Small but mighty: Impact hazards from iron Near‐Earth Objects

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, Volume 61, Issue 2, Page 224-240, February 2026.
Abstract Small asteroids can impact Earth unexpectedly, as demonstrated by the Chelyabinsk event in 2013. The warning times are likely to be short, and the first tools for fast hazard predictions have been developed in the last years for encounters with rocky or cometary objects, which quickly fragment in the atmosphere and cause airbursts. However, in

Gravity Survey in Cape Ryugu and Syowa Station, Antarctic

open access: yesAntarctic Record, 1980
Gravity survey was carried out in Cape Ryugu, and East and West Ongul Islands by the summer party of the 19th Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition (JARE-19) using a LaCoste and Romberg model G land gravity meter.

Rapid terrestrial weathering of the CI1 carbonaceous chondrite find Oued Chebeika 002

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, Volume 61, Issue 2, Page 211-223, February 2026.
Abstract Alteration of historic CI1 meteorite falls during their curation demonstrates the susceptibility of smectite‐rich carbonaceous chondrites to terrestrial exposure. The discovery of Oued Chebeika 002 in Morocco in June 2024 presents a unique opportunity to document the earliest stages of weathering of a CI1 find.

Irradiation-energy Dependence on the Spectral Changes of Hydrous C-Type Asteroids Based on 4kev and 20kev He Exposure Experiments of Murchison Cm Chondrite [PDF]

open access: yes
C-type asteroid 162173 Ryugu was observed by remote sensing apparatus onboard Hayabusa2 spacecraft and found to be very dark object whose reflectance is (1.60 0.15) % at 0.55m and showed a small 2.7m absorption band indicative of phyllosilicates.

Planetary Defence Activities Beyond NASA and ESA [PDF]

open access: yes
The collision of a significant asteroid or comet with Earth represents a singular natural disaster for a myriad of reasons, including: its extraterrestrial origin; the fact that it is perhaps the only natural disaster that is preventable in many cases ...

Regolith behavior under asteroid-level gravity conditions: low-velocity impact experiments

open access: yes, 2018
The dusty regolith covering the surfaces of asteroids and planetary satellites differs in size, shape, and composition from terrestrial soil particles and is subject to very different environmental conditions.
