A General Multiple Data Augmentation Based Framework for Training Deep Neural Networks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Deep neural networks (DNNs) often rely on massive labelled data for training, which is inaccessible in many applications. Data augmentation (DA) tackles data scarcity by creating new labelled data from available ones. Different DA methods have different mechanisms and therefore using their generated labelled data for DNN training may help improving DNN'

Three-Dimensional Electronic Structure of type-II Weyl Semimetal WTe$_2$ [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. Lett. 119, 026403 (2017), 2017
By combining bulk sensitive soft-X-ray angular-resolved photoemission spectroscopy and accurate first-principles calculations we explored the bulk electronic properties of WTe$_2$, a candidate type-II Weyl semimetal featuring a large non-saturating magnetoresistance.

CAVA: A Visual Analytics System for Exploratory Columnar Data Augmentation Using Knowledge Graphs [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Most visual analytics systems assume that all foraging for data happens before the analytics process; once analysis begins, the set of data attributes considered is fixed. Such separation of data construction from analysis precludes iteration that can enable foraging informed by the needs that arise in-situ during the analysis.

Learning Better with Less: Effective Augmentation for Sample-Efficient Visual Reinforcement Learning [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Data augmentation (DA) is a crucial technique for enhancing the sample efficiency of visual reinforcement learning (RL) algorithms. Notably, employing simple observation transformations alone can yield outstanding performance without extra auxiliary representation tasks or pre-trained encoders. However, it remains unclear which attributes of DA account

Tratamento cirúrgico de malformação digital congénita do membro superior [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
ResumoIntroduçãoAs malformações arteriovenosas (MAV) podem ter uma apresentação clínica e evolução imprevisíveis. Por isso, o seu tratamento é ainda um desafio entre as várias patologias vasculares.

Concurrent Subsidiary Supervision for Unsupervised Source-Free Domain Adaptation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
The prime challenge in unsupervised domain adaptation (DA) is to mitigate the domain shift between the source and target domains. Prior DA works show that pretext tasks could be used to mitigate this domain shift by learning domain invariant representations.

Electronic properties of type-II Weyl semimetal WTe$_2$. A review perspective [PDF]

open access: yesElectron. Struct. 1, 014003 (2019), 2018
Currently, there is a flurry of research interest on materials with an unconventional electronic structure, and we have already seen significant progress in their understanding and engineering towards real-life applications. The interest erupted with the discovery of graphene and topological insulators in the previous decade.

Evaluation of adrenal tumors by magnetic resonance imaging with histological correlation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A ressonância magnética é ferramenta importante para a detecção e caracterização dos tumores adrenais. O conhecimento das diferentes apresentações dos tumores primários e secundários à ressonância magnética e sua correlação com dados da histologia são ...

The Herschel-ATLAS: The dust energy balance in the edge-on spiral galaxy UGC 4754 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We use Herschel PACS and SPIRE observations of the edge-on spiral galaxy UGC 4754, taken as part of the H-ATLAS SDP observations, to investigate the dust energy balance in this galaxy. We build detailed SKIRT radiative models based on SDSS and UKIDSS maps and use these models to predict the far-infrared emission.
