Attribute grammars are useful for combinatorics
AbstractThe purpose of this paper is to show the use of attribute grammars in solving some combinatorics problems. For example, we give the generating function for the shape of skew Ferrers diagrams according to the number of cells and the number of columns.

Modeling and predicting all-α transmembrane proteins including helix–helix pairing [PDF]
Modeling and predicting the structure of proteins is one of the most important challenges of computational biology. Exact physical models are too complex to provide feasible prediction tools and other ab initio methods only use local and probabilistic ...

Alignment Elimination from Adams' Grammars [PDF]
Adams' extension of parsing expression grammars enables specifying indentation sensitivity using two non-standard grammar constructs --- indentation by a binary relation and alignment. This paper proposes a step-by-step transformation of well-formed Adams' grammars for elimination of the alignment construct from the grammar.

The Importance of Category Labels in Grammar Induction with Child-directed Utterances [PDF]
Recent progress in grammar induction has shown that grammar induction is possible without explicit assumptions of language-specific knowledge. However, evaluation of induced grammars usually has ignored phrasal labels, an essential part of a grammar.
