The object-oriented programming is widely used in different fields of finite element analysis (FEA). The commonly used object-oriented codes were almost written by C++. Due to the inability to automatically manage memory and the lack of gigantic standard library and a third-party library for C++, building matrix classes are needed and a strong ...

Stress Corrosion Cracking Analysis under Thermal Residual Stress Field Using S-FEM
Key Engineering Materials, 2011Fracture in heat affected zone (HAZ) in welding has been a serious problem for the integrity of machines. Prediction of fracture behavior due to the residual stress field in HAZ is important. In this paper, S-Version FEM(S-FEM) is applied to simulate the crack growth under thermal and residual stress fields.

Analyses of Progressive Damage and Fracture of Particulate Composite Materials Using s-FEM Technique
2008In this paper, the s-fem (s-version FEM; an element overlay technique [1,2,3,4]) is applied to the damage analyses of particulate composite materials (Fig. 1 (a)). We conduct a series of unit cell analyses in which we assume many (≈40) distributed reinforcing particles. We assume two kinds of damage modes in our analyses.

ASME 2010 Pressure Vessels and Piping Conference: Volume 2, 2010
In this paper, a methodology for a three-dimensional simulation of fatigue crack growth behavior in a round bar is presented. This method is based on linear elastic fracture mechanics and S-version FEM (S-FEM) is employed for numerical analysis. Plasticity induced crack closure effect is considered by integrating a crack opening model into simulation ...

The smoothed finite element method (S-FEM) was originated by G R Liu by combining some meshfree techniques with the well-established standard finite element method (FEM). It has a family of models carefully designed with innovative types of smoothing domains.
