Mitigation of atrazine, S-metolachlor, and diazinon using common emergent aquatic vegetation

Journal of Environmental Sciences, 2017
By the year 2050, the population of the United States is expected to reach over 418 million, while the global population will reach 9.6 billion. To provide safe food and fiber, agriculture must balance pesticide usage against impacts on natural resources.

Effects of the herbicides linuron and S-metolachlor on Perez's frog embryos

Chemosphere, 2018
Presence of pesticides in the environment and their possible effects on aquatic organisms are of great concern worldwide. The extensive use of herbicides in agricultural areas are one of the factors contributing to the known decline of amphibian populations.

Tolerance and phytoremediation capacity of atrazine and S-metolachlor by two duckweeds

Environmental Science and Pollution Research
The phytotoxicity and removal of atrazine and S-metolachlor in sterile duckweed systems were estimated in this study. Herbicides were added at environmentally relevant ranges: 0-400 µg/L for atrazine or 0-200 µg/L for S-metolachlor in systems with Spirodela polyrhiza or Lemna minor.

Endocrine and physiological effects of linuron and S-metolachlor in zebrafish developing embryos

Science of The Total Environment, 2017
Evaluation of the effects of linuron and S-metolachlor on apical, biochemical and transcriptional endpoints in zebrafish (Danio rerio) early life stages was the main purpose of this work. Embryos were exposed for 96h to a range of concentrations of each herbicide to determine lethal and sub-lethal effects on apical (e.g.

[Toxicity effects of Rac- and S-metolachlor on two algaes].

Huan jing ke xue= Huanjing kexue, 2013
The enantioselective toxicity of the chiral herbicides Rac- and S-metolachlor to Scenedesmus obliquus and Chlorella vulgaris was determined, and the effect of humic acid was studied by using acute toxicity testing method. The results indicated that the toxicity of Rac- and S-metolachlor increased with increasing concentration and exposure time.

Bacterial communities in batch and continuous-flow wetlands treating the herbicide S-metolachlor

Science of The Total Environment, 2014
Knowledge of wetland bacterial communities in the context of pesticide contamination and hydrological regime is scarce. We investigated the bacterial composition in constructed wetlands receiving Mercantor Gold(®) contaminated water (960 g L(-1) of the herbicide S-metolachlor, >80% of the S-enantiomer) operated under continuous-flow or batch modes to ...

Ecotoxicity of nicosulfuron and S-metolachlor-based herbicides on non-target plants

Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health, Part A
Herbicides have been extensively researched due to widespread use in agriculture, consequently raising concerns regarding their environmental impact and potential adverse effects on non-target organisms, including humans. Nicosulfuron is a post-emergence herbicide used to control annual or perennial grasses and broad-leaved weeds.

[Combined toxicity of cadmium and S-metolachlor to Scenedesmus obliquus].

Huan jing ke xue= Huanjing kexue, 2015
The single and combined effects of Cd2+ and S-metolachlor on acute toxicity, total soluble protein content, superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and cell membrane permeability of Scenedesmus obliquus (S. obliquus) were studied using the standard toxic testing methods.

Sugarbeet tolerance when dimethenamid-P follows soil-applied ethofumesate and S-metolachlor

Weed Technology, 2019
AbstractSugarbeet growers only recently have combined ethofumesate, S-metolachlor, and dimethenamid-P in a weed control system for waterhemp control. Sugarbeet plant density, visible stature reduction, root yield, percent sucrose content, and recoverable sucrose were measured in field experiments at five environments between 2014 and 2016.
