Validation of an automated enzyme immunoassay for interleukin-6 for routine clinical use [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Serum levels of Interleukin-6 (IL-6), a proinflammatory cytokine, are increased in early stages of inflammatory diseases such as infection and sepsis. Assay systems which permit its measurement within a few hours and as a single measurement have not been

Strong antibiotic production is correlated with highly active oxidative metabolism in Streptomyces coelicolor M145

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
The Streptomyces genus is well known for its ability to produce bio-active secondary metabolites of great medical interest. However, the metabolic features accompanying these bio-productions remain to be defined.

The fate of intracoelomic acoustic transmitters in Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) post-smolts and wider considerations for causal factors driving tag retention and mortality in fishes

open access: yesAnimal Biotelemetry, 2023
Acoustic telemetry is a widely used method in assessing behavioural dynamics in fishes. Telemetry transmitters (tags) are often surgically implanted in the coelom of the animal with limited in situ testing and sometimes only assuming that they have ...

Bioenergetic Consequences of FLAG Tag Addition to the C-Terminus of Subunit 8 of Yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae Mitochondrial ATP Synthase

open access: yesHayati Journal of Biosciences, 2010
The yeast mitochondrial F1F0-ATP synthase is a multisubunit complex that contains at least 17 different subunits. Subunit 8 of yeast mitochondrial ATP synthase is a hydrophobic protein of 48 amino acids encoded by the mitochondrial ATP8 gene.

Development and calibration of an s-tagging algorithm and its application to constrain the CKM matrix elements |Vts| and |Vtd| in top-quark decays using ATLAS Run-2 Data

open access: yes, 2021
In this thesis, the development and calibration of an algorithm used to identify jets from strange quarks as well as a measurement constraining the CKM matrix elements $|V_{ts}|$ and $|V_{td}|$ in top-quark decays are presented. The thesis considers data from proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV ...

Fate specification and tissue-specific cell cycle control of the Caenorhabditis elegans intestine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Coordination between cell fate specification and cell cycle control in multicellular organisms is essential to regulate cell numbers in tissues and organs during development, and its failure may lead to oncogenesis.

PoBiTag: Toward Unobtrusive and Customizable Tag-Based Interaction With Optical Polarization and Birefringence

open access: yesIEEE Access
Traditional tag-based interaction systems often rely on visible codes such as QR codes or barcodes, which can disrupt the visual design of printed media, particularly in content-dense or space-limited environments.

Measurement of the Decay Constant $f_D{_S^+}$ using $D_S^+ --> ell^+ nu

open access: yes, 2007
We measure the decay constant fDs using the Ds -> l+ nu channel, where the l+ designates either a mu+ or a tau+, when the tau+ -> pi+ nu. Using both measurements we find fDs = 274 +-13 +- 7 MeV.
