CYTOKININS AS POSSIBLE DETERMINANTS OF PROGRAMMED CELL DEATH OF POLLEN TUBES IN IN VITRO AND IN VIVO SYSTEMS (ON MODEL OBJECTS OF TOMATOES S. HABROCHAITES, S. PENNELLII, S. CHILENSE)

Mineral and Trace Elements Content in 30 Accessions of Tomato Fruits (Solanum lycopersicum L.,) and Wild Relatives (Solanum pimpinellifolium L., Solanum cheesmaniae L. Riley, and Solanum habrochaites S. Knapp & D.M. Spooner)

Biological Trace Element Research, 2010
Tomato quality and its potential health benefits are directly related to its chemical composition. The characterization of nutritional properties of Solanum germplasm is essential to choose suitable donor parents for breeding programs. In this sense, wild species could be very useful for tomato fruit quality genetic improvement. With this objective, in

Utilizing Phenotypic Selection to Enhance Yield and Develop T. urticae Resistance in Interspecific Hybrid Tomatoes Derived from S. habrochaites

Tekirdağ Ziraat Fakültesi Dergisi
Tomatoes play a significant role in global agriculture, but they face challenges from pests and diseases, including the T. urticae. Researchers have been investigating various approaches to undertake this problem and improve tomato yield. One such strategy being explored is interspecific hybridization, which involves breeding two distinct species ...

Population Genetic Approaches to Speciation of Wild Tomatoes with Special Reference to Solanum habrochaites and S. arcanum

2009
This thesis entails the results of three research projects. These have focused on the influence of diversity, demography and structure in the divergence (i.e. the speciation process) of four wild tomato species. In the first project, using coalescent simulations, we studied the impact of three different sampling schemes on patterns of neutral diversity

Identification of QTLs for Botrytis cinerea Resistance in S. Habrochaites LYC4

2006
BOTRYTIS cinerea Pers:Fr (teleomorph: Botryotina fuckeliana (de Bary) Whetzel) is a necrotrophic pathogenic fungus with an exceptionally wide host range of at least 235 species. Modern hybrid tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) cultivars are susceptible to B. cinerea although there are cultivars with some quantitative resistance.
