Association of GLP‐1 Receptor Agonists With Hepatic Decompensation in the All of Us Research Program

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims To evaluate the association between glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonist (GLP‐1RA) initiation and the risk of hepatic decompensation compared with dipeptidyl peptidase 4 inhibitors (DPP4is) in a racially and ethnically diverse cohort of adults with Type 2 diabetes.

Higher Body Mass Index Is a Causal Risk Factor for Skin Infections: A Mendelian Randomisation Study Using UK Biobank and FinnGen

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims Infections remain a leading cause of mortality and morbidity globally. We aimed to evaluate the potential causal role of higher BMI on common bacterial, viral and fungal infections using Mendelian randomisation (MR). Material and Methods In UK Biobank (N = 502 131, N = 230 542 with linked GP records), we tested observational associations ...

Homologous recombination mutants cause differing lethality between h− and h+ Schizosaccharomyces pombe strains due to mat1 heterochromatin

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Homologous recombination (HR) in Schizosaccharomyces pombe is essential when mating‐type switching–induced double‐strand breaks (DSBs) form at the mat1 locus. In h90 and h− strains, efficient mat1 DSB formation renders HR indispensable unless suppressors block these breaks.

Yeast culture combined with Lithothamnium increases the performance of feedlot steers

open access: yesSemina: Ciências Agrárias
The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of adding yeast culture (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) combined with Lithothamnium to the diet of feedlot steers through weight gain, dry matter (DM) intake, apparent DM digestibility, and ...

Five‐Year Survival Prognosis of Early‐Onset and Later‐Onset Colorectal Cancer by Clinical and Lifestyle Characteristics

open access: yesJournal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Aim Early‐onset colorectal cancer (EOCRC) diagnosed at before 50 years of age has been increasing globally. We conducted a nationwide study to compare the associations of clinical and lifestyle characteristics with 5‐year survival between EOCRC and later‐onset colorectal cancer (LOCRC) patients.

Microscopic colitis and primary sclerosing cholangitis are bidirectionally associated: A nationwide matched cohort and case–control study

open access: yesJournal of Internal Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Microscopic colitis (MC) is an inflammatory disease of the colon. Although there is a known association between inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), evidence linking MC and PSC remains scarce. We aimed to investigate the bidirectional association between MC and PSC.
