Normalized tree water deficit: an automated dendrometer signal to quantify drought stress in trees

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 247, Issue 3, Page 1186-1198, August 2025.
Summary Trees often encounter periods of low soil water availability and high vapor pressure deficit, which induce drought stress and significantly impair their physiological functioning, growth, and survival. Automated dendrometers are valuable tools for quantifying signals related to tree water status, such as tree water deficit (TWD).

Socioeconomic determinants of overweight and obesity among Mexican children and adolescents: Systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesObesity Reviews, Volume 26, Issue 8, August 2025.
Summary Socioeconomic status (SES) has widely been studied as a potential risk factor for obesity among children and adolescents. Nevertheless, SES determinants are rarely contextualized within a country's situation. This work aimed to identify SES factors associated with childhood and adolescent obesity in Mexico.

Genomics‐assisted breeding for designing salinity‐smart future crops

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 23, Issue 8, Page 3119-3151, August 2025.
This review explores fast‐forward genomics‐assisted breeding tools to fast‐track the designing of salinity‐smart crops. Integration of various breeding tools can enhance salinity tolerance, ensuring sustainable agriculture and global food security. Summary Climate change induces many abiotic stresses, including soil salinity, significantly challenging ...

Comparative metabolomics reveals how the severity of predation by the invasive insect Cydalima perspectalis modulates the metabolism re–orchestration of native Buxus sempervirens

open access: yesPlant Biology, Volume 27, Issue 5, Page 818-833, August 2025.
Combining NMR– and LC–HRMS–based metabolomics reveals that root and leaf metabolic changes in boxwood predated by box–tree moth occur at the same density of predation for both central and specialized metabolisms. Abstract The recent biological invasion of box tree moth Cydalima perspectalis on Buxus trees has a major impact on European boxwood stands ...
