Assembly of bioconjugated rod-nanotags and multilayer plasmonic nanorod-array for ultrasensitive SERS detection of S. aureus bacteria

Journal of Nanoparticle Research, 2018
A highly-efficient bioconjugation protocol of bimetallic rod-nanotags interacted with bacterial anti-S. aureus-IgG has been firstly demonstrated. Controllable fabrication of multilayer plasmonic nanorod-array (MPNRA) can be successfully obtained by facet functionalization of nanorods stacked on an activated Si/SiO2 chip.

Efficacy of Plasma ONE apparatus for disinfection of S. aureus, P. aeruginosa and E. coli bacteria from the solid surface

Journal of Theoretical and Applied Physics, 2020
Cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) is a cocktail of charged particles with high antibacterial potency. In this study, we evaluated CAP efficacy generated by Plasma ONE, a mobile medical device against common chronic wound pathogens. Two sets of working saline suspensions, i.e. 105 and 103 CFU/ml of each reference strain E. coli, P. aeruginosa and S. aureus,

Living S. aureus bacteria rheology

2016
The rheological characterization of Staphylococcus aureus cultures has shown a complex and rich viscoelastic behavior, during the bacteria population growth, when subject to a shear flow [1,2]. In particular, in stationary shear flow, the viscosity keeps increasing during the exponential phase reaching a maximum value (∼30x the initial value) after ...

Evaluation of Antibacterial Activity of Bismuth Ferrites Nanoparticles in the Inhibition of E. Coli and S. Aureus Bacteria

Chemistry & Biodiversity
AbstractIn this work, bismuth ferrites (BFO) nanoparticles were produced in the form of using sol‐gel technique, followed by annealing in a tube furnace in temperatures from 400 °C to 650 °C. X‐ray diffraction (XRD) results showed the formation of small sizes nanoparticles (NPs) with high purity.

Estimation of direct influence of Ukrain preparation on influenza viruses and the bacteria E. coli and S. aureus.

Drugs under experimental and clinical research, 1997
Ukrain is a semisynthetic drug with immunomodulatory properties derived from Chelidonium majus L. alkaloids and thiophosphoric acid. It acts selectively in a lytic way on cancer cells. Its protective properties have been shown in mice infected by influenza viruses.

Vancomycin-Polyguanidino Dendrimer Conjugates Inhibit Growth of Antibiotic-Resistant Gram-Positive and Gram-Negative Bacteria and Eradicate Biofilm-Associated S. aureus

ACS Infectious Diseases
The global challenge of antibiotic resistance necessitates the introduction of more effective antibiotics. Here we report a potentially general design strategy, exemplified with vancomycin, that improves and expands antibiotic performance. Vancomycin is one of the most important antibiotics in use today for the treatment of Gram-positive infections ...

Platelet-S. aureus Interactions: A Study of Thrombus Formation in Whole Blood in the Presence of Bacteria Under Physiological Shear Conditions

2008
Staphylococcus aureus is one of the most common causes of community- and hospital-acquired infections. Many common diseases caused by S. aureus include infectious endocarditis, osteomyelitis, septic arthritis, pneumonia and septicemia. The recent surge in methicillin resistant S.
