Congenital Sarcocystosis in a Saanen Goat

The Journal of Parasitology, 1996
Sarcocystis schizonts were seen in histologic sections of the brain of a stillborn Saanen goat from Australia. The organism was located in endothelial cells of blood vessels, divided by endopolygeny, and reacted with anti-S. cruzi polyclonal rabbit serum in an avidin-biotin-peroxidase complex immunohistochemical test.

Telocytes in the hearts of Saanen goats

Microscopy Research and Technique, 2020
AbstractTelocytes, new interstitial cells that have received significant attention in recent years, have been detected in many organs, including the heart. The distinction between telocytes and other interstitial cells can only be made based on their ultrastructural characterization and immunophenotypic features.

Embryo transfers in Angora and Saanen goats

New Zealand Veterinary Journal, 1985
Sixteen mixed age Angora does were synchronised by progesterone injections and superovulated with either PMSG or FSH in 1982 and six synchronised Angora and seven Saanens were superovulated with FSH in 1983. All donors entire mated and were subjected to egg recovery by a uterine flush conducted during surgery about five days after oestrus.

POLLEDNESS AND ABNORMAL SEX RATIOS IN SAANEN GOATS

Journal of Heredity, 1964
NUMEROUS studies have shown that the dominant gene (P) for polledness found in the Saanen breed of dairy goats is associated with a recessive hermaphroditic effect, characterized by incomplete penetrance. The penetrance of the hermaphroditic effect increases with increasing litter size'''-.

Ultrasonography of the rumen in 30 Saanen goats

Schweizer Archiv für Tierheilkunde, 2011
This study describes the results of ultrasonographic examination of the rumen in 30 healthy Saanen goats. A linear or convex transducer with a variable frequency of 5 to 13 MHz was used to scan standing, non-sedated goats. The location and size of the rumen, the distance between the wall of the rumen and abdominal wall and the appearance and size of ...

A Chromosomal Abnormality in Phenotypically Normal Saanen Goats

Cytogenetic and Genome Research, 1966
A family of Saanen goats is described in which centric fusion of two acrocentric chromosomes, giving rise to a submetacentric chromosome, has apparently occurred. The complement appeared to be genetically balanced, no phenotypic abnormalities being detected in six carriers or their offspring.

Anatomical and Cytological Sex of a Saanen Goat

Cytogenetic and Genome Research, 1964
A Saanen goat registered as female was found to have a pair of abdominal testes, a well developed uterus and a prominent clitoris. The chromosome features of peripheral leukocytes and the nuclear sex chromatin pattern of lymphocytes and testicular cells conformed to those of a cytological female.
