The export of emergent aquatic insects is a critical energy subsidy for terrestrial food webs. While urbanization is known to alter stream communities, its effects on the size structure of these insect subsidies and the subsequent consequences for riparian predators remain poorly understood.

Thermodynamic and microphysical properties of summertime marine fog observed from Sable Island
Atmospheric profiling and near‐surface fog and visibility measurements revealed synoptic‐scale forcing as the dominant factor in fog formation over Sable Island, with deep fog layers under low‐pressure systems and shallow fog layers under high‐pressure systems.

Defensive response to humans in farm-bred sables (Martes zibellina)
The formation of behavior type in the postnatal development of sables is studied insufficiently. Studies of this hot topic showed that the anthropogenic factor has a great influence on behavior formation in sables. Identification of other components that

Fifteen size‐resolved aerosol samples collected during marine fog, with adjacent ambient observations, show that coarse sea salt aerosol is rapidly grown and lost in the northwest North Atlantic Ocean except when subject to extreme winds. The persistence of fog in the absence of sea salt is determined by available fine‐mode aerosol, where greater ...

Identifying Space Use at Foraging Arena Scale within the Home Ranges of Large Herbivores.
An intermediate spatiotemporal scale of food procurement by large herbivores is evident within annual or seasonal home ranges. It takes the form of settlement periods spanning several days or weeks during which foraging activity is confined to spatially ...

The influence of shc proteins and aging on whole body energy expenditure and substrate utilization in mice. [PDF]
While it has been proposed that Shc family of adaptor proteins may influence aging by regulating insulin signaling and energy metabolism, the overall impact of Shc proteins on whole body energy metabolism has yet to be elucidated.
