Molecular Dissection of the 5S Ribosomal RNA-Intergenic Transcribed Spacers in Saccharum spp. and Tripidium spp.

open access: yesAgronomy, 2023
Due to complex polyploid, sugarcane whole genome sequencing and characterization lag far behind other crops. PCR-based DNA markers are a viable low-cost option to evaluate genetic diversity and verify genotypes.

Comparative Analysis of Chloroplast Genome in Saccharum spp. and Related Members of 'Saccharum Complex'. [PDF]

open access: yesInt J Mol Sci, 2022
High ploids of the sugarcane nuclear genome limit its genomic studies, whereas its chloroplast genome is small and conserved, which is suitable for phylogenetic studies and molecular marker development. Here, we applied whole genome sequencing technology to sequence and assemble chloroplast genomes of eight species of the ‘Saccharum Complex’, and ...

Genetic Divergence and Population Structure of Xanthomonas albilineans Strains Infecting Saccharum spp. Hybrid and Saccharum officinarum. [PDF]

open access: yesPlants (Basel), 2023
Leaf scald caused by Xanthomonas albilineans (Xa) is a major bacterial disease in sugarcane that represents a threat to the global sugar industry. Little is known about the population structure and genetic evolution of this pathogen. In this study, 39 Xa strains were collected from 6 provinces in China.

The complete mitochondrial genome of sugarcane (Saccharum spp.) variety FN15. [PDF]

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA B Resour, 2020
The complete mitogenome of Saccharum spp. hybrid FN15 was successfully sequenced. It contains two distinct circular chromosomes, Chromosome 1 and Chromosome 2. The former is 301,533 bp in length with the GC content of 43.90%, and 7.12% of genome (21,468 nucleotides) are coding DNA while 92.88% of genome (280,065 nucleotides) are intergenic region.

Characterization of Chromosome Inheritance of the Intergeneric BC2 and BC3 Progeny between Saccharum spp. and Erianthus arundinaceus. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Erianthus arundinaceus (E. arundinaceus) has many desirable agronomic traits for sugarcane improvement, such as high biomass, vigor, rationing ability, tolerance to drought, and water logging, as well as resistance to pests and disease.

The complete mitochondrial genome sequence and phylogenetic analysis of sugarcane (Saccharum spp.) cultivar ROC22

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2020
The complete mitogenome of Saccharum spp. hybrid ROC22 (a modern sugarcane cultivar) was sequenced and analyzed in the present study. Our results revealed that, unlike most plants, the complete mitogenome of sugarcane contains two distinct circular ...
