“Sacrifice” Among Ahmadi Women [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In the world of religion, sacrifice is believed as a form of devotion toward the deities. Some theories suggest that every religion has its own system as well as function of sacrifice.

Backbone Heterojunction Photocatalysts for Efficient Sacrificial Hydrogen Production

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Herein, a ‘single‐component’ organic semiconductor photocatalyst is presented in which a molecular donor is bonded to a polymer acceptor. The resultant material demonstrates exceptional photocatalytic activity for hydrogen evolution in aqueous triethylamine with an outstanding external quantum efficiency of 38% at 420 nm.

Mechanochemistry‐Assisted Solvent‐Free Supramolecular Engineering for Atomic‐Layered Carbon Nitride Nanosheets with Enhanced Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A solvent‐free mechanochemistry‐enabled supramolecular engineering strategy is developed to directly synthesize covalent‐interconnected two‐dimensional atomic‐layered carbon nitride nanosheets photocatalyst, bypassing conventional top‐down exfoliation requirements.

Tailoring Redox Active Sites with Dual‐Interfacial Electric Fields for Concurrent Photocatalytic Biomass Valorization and H2 Production

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A rationally engineered bifunctional photocatalyst is reported, which achieves simultaneous selective oxidation of biomass‐derived 5‐hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) to 2,5‐diformylfuran (DFF) and efficient H2 evolution. By precisely positioning Au and Co3O4 on Zn3In2S6 nanosheet, dual interfacial electric fields are well constructed to spatially separate ...

Equal Sacrifice and Fair Burden Sharing in a Public Goods Economy [PDF]

open access: yes
Applying a willingness to pay approach known from contingent valuation in environmental economics, we develop an ordinally based measure for the size of individual sacrifice that is connected with an agent's contribution to a public good.

Smart, Bio‐Inspired Polymers and Bio‐Based Molecules Modified by Zwitterionic Motifs to Design Next‐Generation Materials for Medical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bio‐based and (semi‐)synthetic zwitterion‐modified novel materials and fully synthetic next‐generation alternatives show the importance of material design for different biomedical applications. The zwitterionic character affects the physiochemical behavior of the material and deepens the understanding of chemical interaction mechanisms within the ...

In Animate Praise: The Heavenly Temple Liturgy of the Apocalypse and the Songs of the Sabbath Sacrifice [PDF]

open access: yes
This article engages with contemporary research by drawing out evocative lines of continuity between the description of angelic praise in the heavenly realm in the Songs of the Sabbath Sacrifice, and scenes of worship in the celestial temple in the ...
