Flexible Implantable Silicon Carbide Multi‐Electrode Array (MEA) for Cell Multichannel Recording and Cell Ablation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Flexible silicon carbide (SiC) microelectrode arrays enable high‐fidelity, multichannel cell extracellular recording and precise localized ablation. SiC has been extensively evaluated to persist long‐term in chronic physiological conditions while remaining robust, with excellent electrical and electrochemical stability.

Adhesive properties and sacrificial bonds in gastroliths of red-clawlobster measured by colloidal probe atomic force microscopy

open access: yes
The adhesive properties of gastroliths of red claw lobsters (Cherax quadricarinatus) have been quantified using colloidal probe atomic force microscopy. Sequential detachment and large adhesion energies where observed between native gastrolith substrates

Large Faraday Rotation in Liquid Crystals With Embedded Paramagnetic Ions (Cu2+, VO2+) at Room Temperature

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Large Faraday rotation at room temperature is observed in thin films of discotic copper (Cu2+: 3d9) and vanadyl (VO2+: 3d1) enaminoketone complexes. The large Verdet constant originates from a high density of paramagnetic centers, metal‐ligand p−d hybridization and π orbitals involved in optical transitions (identified by DFT calculations), as well as ...

Innovative tough elastomers: Designed sacrificial bonds in multiple networks

open access: yes, 2013
We investigated an innovative path to reinforce, both in toughness and stiffness, usually brittle elastomers, withoutusing fillers. In this work, via a sequence of swelling/polymerization steps, we designed multiple network elastomers from alkylacrylate monomers.

Thickness‐Dependent Infrared Emissivity of Ultrathin Freestanding MoSiN Nanocomposite Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Metals and dielectrics show opposite trends in thickness‐dependent infrared emissivity: metallic films exhibit a rise in emissivity below a critical thickness, while dielectric films show a corresponding decline. For applications demanding both high emissivity and mechanical strength in membranes with nanoscale thickness, combining these ...
