Sacrococcygeal ribs, arising from the most caudal part of the vertebral column, are the rarest type of supernumerary ribs. They were described as early as 1960, with new reports being published every few years.

Extramedullary plasmacytoma is a plasma cell tumor that involves soft tissues, without any signs of systemic spread of multiple myeloma or bone marrow involvement.

Archives of orthopaedic and traumatic surgery. Archiv fur orthopadische und Unfall-Chirurgie, 1980In the world literature is reported about 584 tumors of the sacrococcygeal region, 484 of them are analysed exactly. The symptoms of the various tumors are about the same, pain and nerval irritation were seen in the most cases. Rectal-digital examination mostly leads to diagnosis.

Parachordoma of the sacrococcygeal region--a neuroepithelial tumor.
Clinical neuropathology, 1996The parachordoma is a seldom, benign tumor of uncertain histogenesis. A case in a 25-year-old man is presented. The parachordoma in the present study reacted with antibodies to GFA, S-100, NSE and vimentin, but not with antibodies to EMA, keratin and NF.
