The synthesis of electron‐deficient azulene‐embedded polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons has been achieved by the rhodium‐catalyzed intermolecular arylative [2 + 2 + 1] annulation of teraryl diynes with dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylates followed by oxidation at room temperature.

Woven, In‐Air, Textile Actuators by Conjugated Polymers and Solid‐State Electrolyte Tape Yarns
Herein, the concept of fabric actuators with trilayer tape yarns is reported. The tape yarns consist of conjugated polymer layers and ionogel, as an ion reservoir, enabling actuation in‐air. Using textile techniques to create actuators offer many advantages, such as parallel assembly for increased force output, conductive yarns for electrical control ...

Stepwise Acetylene Insertion and Ammonia Activation at a Digallene and Diindene
The stepwise insertion of acetylene into the E═E bonds of digallenes and diindenes is reported. This leads to the selective formation of four‐ and six‐membered rings with 2π E2C2 and 4π E2C4 cores. The six‐membered cyclohexadiene analogues are Lewis‐acidic and can form stable, isolable adducts with ammonia, which—upon heating—undergo ammonolysis ...

Tuning Antiaromaticity Through Meso‐Substituent Orientation in Core‐Modified Isophlorins
The antiaromaticity of dithiadioxaisophlorins is controlled by the steric bulkiness of meso‐substituents through their tilt angle relative to the macrocycle. Bulkier substituents maintain larger angles, preserving stronger antiaromaticity, while smaller groups facilitate π‐conjugation with the macrocycle, diminishing antiaromaticity.

Single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction analysis revealed a reduction‐induced ring cleavage with subsequent hydrogenation of a bilayer spironanographene upon treatment with alkali metals. Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations suggested localized spin density on the C‐atom at the central spirocycle upon one‐fold reduction, facilitating a site‐specific ...

Thiophene Containing Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon Monkey Saddles
A series of thiophene containing polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon monkey saddles is presented. The core structure was successfully functionalized to tune the optoelectronic properties and furthermore path the way to use these monkey saddles as building block, for example for oligomeric structures as well as organic cage compounds.

Saddle point theorems on generalized convex spaces
A sharpened extension of Komiya's saddle point theorem is obtained for generalized convex spaces. Moreover, we show that convexity of the involved sets in his theorem can be replaced by acyclicity, and continuity of the involved functions by lower and ...
