Using driving simulators to assess driving safety
Accident Analysis & Prevention, 2010Changes in drivers, vehicles, and roadways pose substantial challenges to the transportation safety community. Crash records and naturalistic driving data are useful for examining the influence of past or existing technology on drivers, and the associations between risk factors and crashes.

Improvement of Bus and Truck Driving Safety
2006 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man and Cybernetics, 2006Decreases of driver attention causes daily serious road accidents. This concerns not only the drivers of passenger cars, but especially the drivers of trucks and busses. Some nonstandard approaches to the problem how to improve the reliability and safety of the driver - vehicle interactions are discussed in this paper.

Drugs of Abuse, Driving and Traffic Safety
Current Drug Abuse Reviewse, 2010Roadside studies indicate that 1-15% of drivers drive under the influence of one or more drugs of abuse. After drug use, drivers are more often culpable for an accident than non-users. Information on drugs and traffic safety comes from roadside studies, epidemiological research, experimental studies on driving-related skills, and on-the-road driving ...

Functional safety SoC for autonomous driving
2018 IEEE Custom Integrated Circuits Conference (CICC), 2018Advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) for autonomous driving requires high computational power. The requirement on functional safety support in ADAS SoCs is getting strict. This paper discusses two topics: implementation and verification for supporting functional safety.

Safety Analysis for Highly Automated Driving
2018 IEEE International Symposium on Software Reliability Engineering Workshops (ISSREW), 2018Highly automated driving affords a fail-operational system and therefore more effort regarding functional safety. The engineering standard for vehicles, ISO 26262 does not give an applicable approach for a safety argumentation in this context and has its limitations regarding fail-operational systems.
