Effects of Conversion From Sagebrush to Non-Native Grasslands on Sagebrush-Associated Species [PDF]
On the Ground There are as many as 170 vertebrate wildlife species throughout the western United States and Canada that are associated with and sometimes dependent on sagebrush habitats and can be negatively affected by conversion of sagebrush ecosystems to non-native perennial or annual grassland.

Saving the sagebrush sea: An ecosystem conservation plan for big sagebrush plant communities
Vegetation change and anthropogenic development are altering ecosystems and decreasing biodiversity. Successful management of ecosystems threatened by multiple stressors requires development of ecosystem conservation plans rather than single species plans. We selected the big sagebrush (Artemisia tridentata Nutt.) ecosystem to demonstrate this approach.

Should Ranchers Value Sagebrush? Why We Need Sagebrush
This fact sheet describes the value of sagebrush to ranchers. Big sagebrush is beneficial to grasses and forbs growing under its canopy by supplying them water, nutrients, organic matter and protection from overgrazing. It provides food and cover for a number of birds, reptiles, small mammals and beneficial insects. It can provide winter forage for both

Sagebrush Response to Conifer Cover
<p class="emsd">Sagebrush habitat is declining throughout the United States. This can have negative impacts for big game as well as other wildlife species. The purpose of our research was to analyze the relationship between several abiotic factors and the cover of two conifer species, Douglas-fir (<em>Pseudotsuga menziesii</em>) and ...

Pellet Seeding on Sagebrush Range
Seeding deteriorated range lands efficiently and economically has become one of the most promising means of improving the agricultural economy of the western range states. By providing the most rapid means of increasing the quantity and improving the quality of forage for livestock, and aiding in the prevention of soil erosion, artificial seeding ...
