Growth Autocorrelation in Atlantic Bluefin Tuna Thunnus thynnus Larvae in the Northwest Mediterranean and the Gulf of Mexico

open access: yesFisheries Oceanography, Volume 35, Issue 2, Page 297-305, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Growth and survival rates during the early life stages are key vital parameters driving population dynamics of fish. Growth rates generally present a pattern of autocorrelation. Growth autocorrelation is stronger when faster and slower growing individuals continue to grow faster and slower.

Remorphable Architectures: Reprogramming Global Bistability through Locally Bistable Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 9, 12 February 2026.
Local bistable reconfiguration in mechanical metamaterials is leveraged in globally bistable architectures to enable in situ reprogrammable transition pathways through state flip of individual building blocks. The local‐to‐global correspondence of instabilities empowers soft robotic systems with on‐demand morphing traits, as well as aerospace ...

The V Sagittae Stars [PDF]

open access: yesPublications of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, 1998
We identify a class of four Galactic stars with similar spectroscopic and photometric properties: V617 Sgr, HD 104994, WX Cen, and V Sge. We call this class the "V Sagittae stars." The characteristics and literature of each of these stars are reviewed.

Characterization of salmon‐foraging harbor seals (Phoca vitulina) in the Erimo region, Hokkaido, Japan, using finite mixture models

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, Volume 90, Issue 2, February 2026.
Finite mixture models revealed that older, larger harbor seals specialize in salmon predation at setnets in Hokkaido, Japan, suggesting targeted management strategies focusing on these specialist individuals could effectively reduce fishery conflicts while protecting the broader seal population.

Morphology and morphometric relationships of the sagitta of Diapterus auratus (Perciformes: Gerreidae) from Veracruz, Mexico

open access: yesRevista de Biología Tropical, 2013
Sagittae otoliths are the most studied because of their morphological variability and size; the sagittae may also have valuable taxonomic use and for D. auratus has not yet been described.

Ontogenetic and sex-related variations in otolith morphology and structure of thinlip gray mullet from a transitional environment in northern Italy

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
Otoliths are calcified structures present in the inner ear of fish involved in hearing and balance. Notwithstanding that their shape is species-specific, which is helpful for taxonomic identification, the intraspecific variability of shape and structures

Chaetognath spatial distribution and how egg-carrying affects the vertical distribution of Sagitta tasmanica off southern Chile

open access: yesScientia Marina, 2009
Six chaetognath species were determined, all for the first time, in the inner waters between Reloncaví Fjord and Boca del Guafo, Chile. Sagitta tasmanica (85.3%) and Eukrohnia hamata (5.8%) were dominant.
