UV–Vis Spectra of Carbonic Acid: Rationalizing Experimental Redshifts between Monomer and Bulk based on (H2CO3)n Calculations

open access: yesChemPhysChem, EarlyView.
In bulk carbonic acid (e.g., in interstellar icy dust grains) cluster formation produces two distinct UV‐Vis spectral features redshifted by ≈2 eV (25 nm) and by ≈5 eV (80 nm) compared to gas phase single molecule carbonic acid 's adiabatic ionization energy. Theory and experiment were used to investigate the origin of these shifts.

Tomographic Imaging of the Sagittarius Spiral Arm's Magnetic Field Structure

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The Galactic global magnetic field is thought to play a vital role in shaping Galactic structures such as spiral arms and giant molecular clouds. However, our knowledge of magnetic field structures in the Galactic plane at different distances is limited,

Young Globular Clusters and Dwarf Spheroidals [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Most of the globular clusters in the main body of the Galactic halo were formed almost simultaneously. However, globular cluster formation in dwarf spheroidal galaxies appears to have extended over a significant fraction of a Hubble time.

An OGLE view of the bulge and Sagittarius [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the International Astronomical Union, 2013
AbstractWe use observations of OGLE-III ab-type RRLyrae stars towards the Galactic centre (Soszyński et al. 2011, AcA 6,1) to study the metallicity and 3D spatial distribution of the old and metal-poor component of the Galactic bulge. Metallicities and distances to the RRLyrae stars are derived photometrically from Fourier-component analyses of their ...

The physical and chemical structure of Sagittarius B2 [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics, 2019
Context. The giant molecular cloud Sagittarius B2 (hereafter Sgr B2) is the most massive region with ongoing high-mass star formation in the Galaxy. In the southern region of the 40-pc large envelope of Sgr B2, we encounter the Sgr B2(DS) region, which ...

The Impact of Climate Change on the Performance of Agricultural Companies Worldwide

open access: yesCorporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study examines the impact of climate change on agricultural firms, focusing on physical risks, both chronic (e.g., temperature and precipitation) and acute (e.g., droughts and floods). We conduct a panel data analysis of 19,929 companies in 69 countries across five continents from 2013 to 2021.

Galactic substructure traced by RR Lyraes in SDSS Stripe 82

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2012
Using a sample of 407 RR Lyrae stars extracted from SDSS Stripe 82, we study the degree of substructure in the Galactic halo. We identify overdensities associated with the known substructures of the Hercules-Aquila Cloud and the Sagittarius Stream, and ...

Doing Good While Doing Well? ESG Management as an Obstacle to Impact‐Oriented Sustainable Finance in Large Spanish Banks

open access: yesCorporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Addressing environmental and social sustainability challenges demands significant private financing. In response, financial institutions globally—including major Spanish banks—have increasingly adopted sustainable finance (SF). However, persistent greenwashing concerns question whether these practices meaningfully advance sustainability ...
