ABSTRACT This study introduces a novel educational software for the analysis of 2D truss structures using a position‐based Finite Element Method (FEM). The software, named Truss Positional Finite Element Method Program (TPFEM), employs a Half‐Edge data structure to efficiently manage the geometric and topological information of truss elements.

In this work, we consider the long-standing problem of capturing dune formation in an erodible-bed channel at subcritical speed by using a reduced order model of depth-averaged equations.

A coupled hydrologic and hydraulic modelling framework relying on representative hillslope models and scaled using hydraulic routing schemes is proposed to simulate Hortonian overland flow at intermediate scales. Using a reconstructed historic summer storm in southwest Germany (1994), we show how hillslope scale nature‐based flood prevention measures ...

Abstract Stromboli volcano (Italy) is known for its persistent explosive activity punctuated by more energetic explosions called paroxysms. During paroxysms, pyroclastic density currents, triggered by the gravitational instability of hot pyroclastic deposits, can occur.

Finite Element Modeling Of Saint-Venant Equations For Shatt-Al Hilla
Shatt Al-Hilla was considered one of the important branches of Euphrates River that supplies irrigation water to millions of dunams of planted areas. It is important to control the velocity and water level along the river to maintain the required level ...

Conservative finite-volume forms of the Saint-Venant equations for hydrology and urban drainage [PDF]
New integral, finite-volume forms of the Saint-Venant equations for one-dimensional (1-D) open-channel flow are derived. The new equations are in the flux-gradient conservation form and transfer portions of both the hydrostatic pressure force and the ...

A modular eight‐legged robot exploits anisotropically oriented soft I‐beam backbones to transmit vibration from a single unbalanced‐mass actuator, producing frequency‐dependent multimodal gaits. A pseudo‐rigid‐body model enables high‐fidelity MuJoCo simulation, while Bayesian parameter identification and reinforcement learning yield robust control ...

ABSTRACT Hydraulic roughness (log f) is invoked as an integrator of vegetation effects on overland flow in semi‐arid catchments, yet the quantitative contribution of individual cover components remains poorly resolved. This study aimed to elucidate the mechanisms by which shrub vegetation, surface litter and tree canopy modulate runoff generation ...

Modified Saint-Venant equations for flow simulation in tidal rivers
Flow in tidal rivers periodically propagates upstream or downstream under tidal influence. Hydrodynamic models based on the Saint-Venant equations (the SVN model) are extensively used to model tidal rivers.
