A quadratic Lyapunov function for Saint-Venant equations with arbitrary friction and space-varying slope

open access: yesAutomatica, 2019
The exponential stability problem of the nonlinear Saint-Venant equations is addressed in this paper. We consider the general case where an arbitrary friction and space-varying slope are both included in the system, which lead to non-uniform steady ...

Feedforward boundary control of 2×2 nonlinear hyperbolic systems with application to Saint-Venant equations

European Journal of Control, 2020
Because they represent physical systems with propagation delays, hyperbolic systems are well suited for feedforward control. This is especially true when the delay between a disturbance and the output is larger than the control delay.

Moving-Water Equilibria Preserving Partial Relaxation Scheme for the Saint-Venant System

SIAM Journal on Scientific Computing, 2020
We develop a new moving-water equilibria preserving numerical scheme for the Saint-Venant system. The new scheme is designed in two major steps.

Stabilization method for the Saint-Venant equations by boundary control

Transactions of the Institute of Measurement and Control, 2020
In this paper, we are interested in the stabilization of the flow modeled by the Saint-Venant equations. We have solved two problems in this study. The first, we have proved that the operator associated to the Saint-Venant system has a finite number of ...

Saint Venant’s torsion of homogeneous and composite bars by the finite volume method

, 2020
We propose a new finite-volume based approach to the solution of Saint Venant’s torsion problems of homogeneous and composite prismatic bars subjected to pure torsion.

Saint-Venant's Principle for a Piezoelectric Body

SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 1998
The authors obtain decay estimate for the internal energy of a semi-infinite cylindrical body made of a linear piezoelectric material. At the base of the cylinder either the displacement vectors or the traction vectors are prescribed. A part of the lateral surface of the body is rigidly fixed, and the remaining part is free of tractions.

A BEM approach to the evaluation of warping functions in the Saint Venant theory

, 2020
The paper illustrates the numerical procedure, based upon a Boundary Element (BE) approach, developed to efficiently evaluate the warping functions in the Saint Venant theory of beam-like solids having both compact and thin-walled sections. Specifically,
