A Survey for Deep Reinforcement Learning Based Network Intrusion Detection

open access: yesApplied AI Letters, Volume 7, Issue 2, June 2026.
This paper surveys deep reinforcement learning (DRL) for network intrusion detection, evaluating model efficiency, minority attack detection, and dataset imbalance. Findings show DRL achieves state‐of‐the‐art results on public datasets, sometimes surpassing traditional deep learning.

The Permission Paradox: Condoning Deception Can Promote Honesty in Young Children

open access: yesDevelopmental Science, Volume 29, Issue 3, May 2026.
ABSTRACT The capacity to deceive is a hallmark of cognitive sophistication. Researchers often use games requiring deception to study the development of this capacity, assuming such games effectively isolate the cognitive aspects from sociomoral considerations.

Contested heritage landscapes for Arabic language learning in a postcolonial France

open access: yesJournal of Linguistic Anthropology, Volume 36, Issue 1, May 2026.
Abstract This article analyzes the contested and multiple meanings of “heritage” that emerge for advanced Arabic language learners in a postcolonial France. A linguistic life histories approach reveals a fraught duality of privileged access and exclusionary adversity for heritage students of Arabic.

Design for flexibility: An adjustable robust optimization approach with decision‐dependent uncertainty

open access: yesAIChE Journal, Volume 72, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Flexibility is a crucial characteristic of industrial systems that face increasing volatilities and is therefore essential to ensure feasible operation under uncertainty. Flexibility is often closely tied to the design of a system, and careful consideration must be taken to understand the trade‐off between design cost and operational ...

Development of a Jacketed Breathable Shake Flask With Process Monitoring, Control, and Bioreactor‐Like Performance

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, Volume 123, Issue 4, Page 1064-1076, April 2026.
This article presents the design and evaluation of a gas‐control jacket integrated with a breathable shake flask, enabling precise regulation of dissolved oxygen and carbon dioxide to improve scalability, process control, and culture performance in shaking bioreactors.

Texture and Color Enhancement Imaging for the Kyoto Classification of Gastritis: Evaluation of Visibility and Color Differences

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
Statistically significant differences between the three groups were observed. Furthermore, the ΔE* of texture and color enhancement imaging (TXI)‐1 was significantly greater than that of TXI‐2. Box plots show the median (center line) and interquartile range (box). Whiskers extend to the most extreme values within 1.5×IQR, and values beyond the whiskers

Circulating Microbial Metabolites Predict Tumor Relapse and Chemotherapy Efficacy in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT The value of microbial metabolites in prognosis and treatment response prediction in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) remains unclear. Here, through the untargeted metabolomic analysis of plasma in 48 paired NPC patients with or without tumor relapse, we identified distinct circulating metabolite atlases between NPC patients with ...

Dynamic T‐Cell Reprogramming Modulates the Treatment Outcome of Neoadjuvant Immunochemotherapy in Non‐Small‐Cell Lung Cancer

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
We explored the responding mechanisms associated with pathological responsiveness to neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy. CD8+ T‐cell subsets, including effect memory T (Tem), effector T (Teff), resident memory T (Trm), as well as exhausted T cells (Tex), showed higher clonality and diversity in responders, and both novel and pre‐existing clonal expansion ...
