Thyroid hyperplasia in a saker falcon (Falco cherrug)

Comparative Clinical Pathology, 2012

Normal haematology of captive saker falcons (Falco cherrug)

Comparative Haematology International, 1996
A complete haematological study was carried out on 25 clinically normal captive female saker falcons (Falco cherrug) in order to establish normal haematology reference values for the species. The results are compared with values obtained in captive peregrine falcons.

Experimental West Nile Virus Infection in Gyr-Saker Hybrid Falcons

Vector-Borne and Zoonotic Diseases, 2012
West Nile disease (WND) has become a major public and veterinary health concern since the appearance of West Nile virus (WNV) in New York in 1999. The following panzootic spread in the U.S. and the recent WNV outbreaks in Europe and the Mediterranean Basin have increased interest in WND. Despite considerable investigation of WNV infection in birds, the

Preliminary data suggests genetic distinctiveness of gyr and saker falcons

Conservation Genetics, 2007
The inadequately controlled trade in gyr and saker falcons has lead to saker falcons becoming endangered and both species being CITES listed. However, the phylogenetic relationship between these nominal species is unresolved preventing their molecular identification and limiting the availability of data for conservation management. This study amplified

Complete mitochondrial genome of the Saker falcon, Falco cherrug (Falco, Falconidae)

Mitochondrial DNA Part A, 2015
The Falco cherrug (Saker falcon) is a large bird of prey. In this article, the complete mitochondrial genome of F. cherrug has been determined for the first time. The mitogenome (18,059 bp) comprised 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, 2 rRNA genes and 1 control region.
