Reservoir Monitoring Offshore Sakhalin
Proceedings, 2016Sakhalin Energy Investment Company Ltd. is developing the Piltun-Astokhskoye oil field and the Lunskoye gas field off the north-eastern coast of Sakhalin. As part its reservoir management strategy, Sakhalin Energy has conducted 4D seismic surveys to monitor oil and gas extraction and water injection.

The controlling tectonic features of Sakhalin are the East Sakhalin horst, the northern fold belt, the western flank of the Tatar Strait geosyncline and the block-faulted area east and north of Aniwa Bay. The linear folds are associated with the Tatar Strait geosyncline. The block faulting is treated as Miocene, and earlier than the folding. — M.
