A Prelude to Conservation Genomics: First Chromosome‐Level Genome Assembly of a Flying Squirrel (Pteromyini: Pteromys volans)

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 9, September 2025.
ABSTRACT The Siberian flying squirrel (Pteromys volans) represents the only European Pteromyini species. Thus, it is biogeographically unique due to its specialised anatomy and biology as a volant rodent. As a result of habitat fragmentation and destruction, Siberian flying squirrels experience severe and ongoing population declines throughout most of ...

Remarks on the type locality and current status of the foraminiferal species Rzehakina epigona (Rzehak, 1895) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
A likely topotype locality is proposed for Rzehakina epigona. As the type specimen of Silicina epigona Rzehak, 1895 is assumed to be lost, we undertook a search for new material in the type area, Zdounky village in Moravia. A single locality provided a

Assessing the Complementarity of Preferential Tax Regimes in the Sakhalin Region

open access: yesFinancial Journal, 2023
State regulation of the anthropogenic impact on nature, including the policy of limiting greenhouse gas emissions, makes it necessary to support those enterprises that are willing to invest in climate projects. The relevance of incentives in this field is confirmed by the task set by the Arctic Council chaired by Russia at the Research and Training ...

Spatial variation in local population dynamics of sika deer, Cervus nippon, through intensified management

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, Volume 89, Issue 7, September 2025.
We analyzed sika deer density trends over 27 years in 256 mesh‐units in Hokkaido, Japan. High‐density areas saw sharp declines, while low‐density areas remained stable. Prioritizing management in high‐density areas can improve overall control efficiency. Abstract Population reduction through hunting and nuisance control has been practiced in many parts

Land influence decouples benthic nutrient fluxes on the Siberian Arctic Ocean shelves

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography Letters, Volume 10, Issue 5, Page 724-733, September 2025.
Abstract Land permafrost thaw transfers increasing amounts of organic matter and nutrients to the Arctic Ocean. These nutrients could stimulate primary production directly, or indirectly following remineralization in sediments. Projections of this effect are limited by scarce observations and poor understanding of the underlying controls.
