Seasonal and Annual Survival of the SalamanderSalamandra salamandra salamandra [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Herpetology, 2014
Abstract Survival is an important component of population growth rate. We use data from a 9-yr mark-recapture study to estimate annual and monthly survival probabilities of adult salamanders (Salamandra salamandra). Monthly survival probability was 0.98–0.99 and did not differ between summer and winter. Annual survival probability was 0.86.

Cytochemical and immunocytochemical investigations on epidermal mitochondria-rich cells in Salamandra salamandra salamandra (L.) larvae

open access: yesTissue and Cell, 1997
In the present study we set out to investigate the expression of E-cadherin, N-cadherin, beta 1-integrin, fibronectin and vitronectin in the mitochondria-rich cells (MRC) of the skin of Salamandra salamandra salamandra. Moreover MRC were stained with five lectins (Triticum vulgaris; Dolichos biflorus; Glycine max; Arachis hypogaea and Canavalia ...

Ultrastructure of epidermis of Salamandra salamandra followed throughout ontogenesis

Cell and Tissue Research, 1977
Ventral epidermal ultrastructure of the amphibian urodele Salamandra salamandra is described and followed throughout its life cycle. Tadpoles were divided into five categories on the basis of the organization of their epidermis and the ultrastructure of its cells. In newly hatched tadpoles the epidermis is arranged in two layers and four types of cells
