Effect of water temperature on the courtship behavior of the Alpine newt Triturus alpestris [PDF]
peer reviewedTemperature is expected to have an effect on the behavioral patterns of all organisms, especially ectotherms. However, although several studies focused on the effect of temperature on acoustic displays in both insects and anurans, almost ...

Growth and the expression of alternative life cycles in the salamander \u3ci\u3eAmbystoma talpoideum\u3c/i\u3e (Caudata: Ambystomatidae) [PDF]
Complex life cycles (CLCs) contain larval and adult phases that are morphologically and ecologically distinct. Simple life cycles (SLCs) have evolved from CLCs repeatedly in a wide variety of lineages but the processes that may underlie the transition ...

Hybridization during altitudinal range shifts: nuclear introgression leads to extensive cyto-nuclear discordance in the fire salamander [PDF]
Ecological models predict that, in the face of climate change, taxa occupying steep altitudinal gradients will shift their distributions, leading to the contraction or extinction of the high-elevation (cold-adapted) taxa.

Genealogy of the nuclear β-fibrinogen intron 7 in Lissotriton boscai (Caudata, Salamandridae): concordance with mtDNA and implications for phylogeography and speciation [PDF]
The power of phylogeographic inference resides in its ability to integrate information from multiple sources in an iterative hypothesis- testing framework. In this paper, we build upon previous mtDNA-based hypotheses about the evolutionary history of the

New records of the Turkish Lycian salamanders (Lyciasalamandra: Salamandridae)
During fieldwork conducted between end of February and mid-April 2012 14 new localities were ascertained for four different taxa of the amphibian genus Lyciasalanzandra (L. I. basoglui, L. I. finikensis, L. arikani and L. atifi). This paper represents the first record of L. I. basoglui from Mug la province (Sakhkent, Fethiye).
