Mitochondrial genome of Pachytriton feii (Urodela: Salamandridae)

Mitochondrial DNA Part A, 2015
In this paper, the complete mitochondrial genome of Pachytriton feii is sequenced and reported for the first time. In our result, the complete mitochondrial genome of P. feii is 16 293 bp in length. Similar to the typical mtDNA of vertebrates, it contained 37 genes (13 protein-coding genes, 2 rRNA genes, and 22 tRNA genes) and 1 non-coding region (D ...

Evolutionary Relationships in the Family Salamandridae

Copeia, 1969
and average linkage techniques and the results of inclusion and exclusion of primitive character states, were compared. There are significant differences, and exclusion of primitive character states is recommended. We put most emphasis on a combinatorial analysis of our own, which takes into account the changes in the feeding system as a single complex

Evolutionary Divergence in the Genus Taricha (Salamandridae)

Copeia, 1974
Genetic variation at 18 loci which code for enzymes and proteins has been assessed by means of starch gel electrophoresis in the species and subspecies of the genus Taricha. The average proportion of polymorphic loci per population ranges from 20.4% in T. t. torosa to 41.2% in T.

Comparative larval morphology in three species of Pleurodeles (Urodela: Salamandridae)

Zootaxa, 2017
The Ribbed newts (genus Pleurodeles) are endemic to the Iberian Peninsula and northwest Africa (Raffaëlli 2013), and comprise three species: Pleurodeles nebulosus (Guichenot 1850), Pleurodeles poireti (Gervais 1836) and Pleurodeles waltl Michahelles 1830.

Ecological Observations on Chioglossa lusitanica (Caudata, Salamandridae)

Amphibia-Reptilia, 1980
AbstractDuring 1977 and in October 1978 fieldwork was carried out on the Golden-striped Salamander (Chioglossa lusitanica) in the surroundings of Porto (Portugal). The occurrence of C. lusitanica appears to be limited to the northwestern part of the Iberian Peninsula; its distribution is well defined by the region with a precipitation of more than 1000

Two new species of Tylototriton from Thailand (Amphibia: Urodela: Salamandridae)

Zootaxa, 2013
Three morphological groups are found in a salamandrid newt Tylototriton shanjing from Thailand. We describe two of them as new species, one from northern and the other from northeastern Thailand, based on molecular and morphological data, however we could not make a taxonomic decision on the remaining one group because of the lack of voucher specimens ...

Abundanzmessungen an mitteleuropäischen Triturus-Populationen (Amphibia, Salamandridae)

Amphibia-Reptilia, 1982
AbstractInvestigations on size and density of Triturus populations were made between 1976 and 1979 at four small waters in the surroundings of Münster (West Germany). All waters contained mixed populations consisting of two or three species (Triturus vulgaris, T. alpestris, T. cristatus). Populations of individual species varied from very small numbers

Natural variation in the appendicular skeleton of Triturus carnifex (Amphibia: Salamandridae)

Journal of Morphology, 1996
Intraspecific variation in the appendicular skeleton of two geographically isolated populations of Triturus carnifex, one from northern Italy (Rosate, Milano) and one from central Italy (Bagnaia, Perugia), has been studied. A total of 1,746 forelimbs and 830 hindlimbs were examined.

MtDNA Phylogeography of the California Newt, Taricha torosa (Caudata, Salamandridae)

Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, 1995
Thirty-six individuals of the California newt, Taricha torosa, representing 22 populations from throughout the range of the two currently recognized subspecies, torosa and sierrae, were examined for sequence variation in a segment (375 bp) of the mitochondrial (mt) cytochrome b gene. The maximum sequence divergence within T.

Paedogenesis in European newts (Triturus: Salamandridae): Cranial morphology during ontogeny

Journal of Morphology, 2000
A cross-sectional analysis using different ontogenetic stages (larvae, juveniles, paedotypic, and metamorphic adults) of the smooth newt, Triturus vulgaris, and the alpine newt, T.alpestris, revealed a broad spectrum of perennibranchiation influences on cranial ontogeny in European newts, more pronounced than previously thought.
