Defects Dynamic in Photo‐Excited CeO2 and their Influence on CO2 Photoreduction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy study under light excitation is presented to track the defect dynamic (Ce4+ to Ce3+) in CeO2. Surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy confirmed the key role of Ce3+ states in controlling charge and energy transfer across the CeO2‐dye molecule interface.

Quantifying Spatio‐Operational Heterogeneity in Electrochemical Devices via Operando Correlative Neutron and X‐Ray Tomography

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Heterogeniety in electrochemical systems heavily influences device performance and durability. The study shows unique evidence of spatio‐operational heterogeneity in fuel cells via operando neutron and X‐ray tomography. Large variations in membrane thickness and hydration depend upon location and operating conditions, with implications on membrane ...

Attended Visual Content Degradation Based Reduced Reference Image Quality Assessment

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
Reduced-reference (RR) image quality assessment (IQA), which aims to use a small amount of the reference information but achieve high accuracy, is greatly demanded in quality-orientated systems.

Bio‐Friendly Artificial Muscles Based on Carbon Nanotube Yarns and Eutectogel Derivatives

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Solid‐state artificial muscles based on coiled commercial carbon nanotube yarns coated with eutectogel derivatives exhibit unipolar actuation through selective ion intercalation. Combining polyanionic and polycationic gels enables enhanced contractile stroke and high energy density.

How a distractor influences fixations during the exploration of natural scenes

open access: yesJournal of Eye Movement Research, 2017
The distractor effect is a well-established means of studying different aspects of fixation pro-gramming during the exploration of visual scenes. In this study, we present a task-irrelevant distractor to participants during the free exploration of ...

Peptide Sequencing With Single Acid Resolution Using a Sub‐Nanometer Diameter Pore

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
To sequence a single molecule of Aβ1−42–sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), the aggregate is forced through a sub‐nanopore 0.4 nm in diameter spanning a 4.0 nm thick membrane. The figure is a visual molecular dynamics (VMD) snapshot depicting the translocation of Aβ1−42–SDS through the pore; only the peptide, the SDS, the Na+ (yellow/green) and Cl− (cyan ...

« Up came the leaves » : l’antéposition des groupes prépositionnels (GP) et particules adverbiales comme marqueur de style

open access: yesE-REA, 2013
The aim of this paper is twofold: (a) to re-examine the different types of locative inversion involving prepositional phrases and adverbial particles with a focus on the syntactic rules that make such constructions possible.

Multiple Twinning in Nacre and Aragonite

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electron backscatter diffraction map of a cluster of geologic aragonite, exhibiting single, double, and triple twins. The whole cluster is approximately 2 cm wide. Colors indicate crystal orientations, so that pixels where the a‐, b‐, and c‐axis is perpendicular to the image plane are green, red, and blue, respectively.

Classification of eye fixation related potentials for variable stimulus saliency

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2016
Objective. Electroencephalography (EEG) and eye tracking can possibly provide information about which items displayed on the screen are relevant for a person. Exploiting this implicit information promises to enhance various software applications.
