Salient features of Haemophilus vaginalis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Microbiology, 1979
A total of 78 strains of Haemophilus vaginalis were examined for 104 features. All strains fermented dextrin, maltose, and starch. Additionally, more than 90% of the strains fermented galactose, glucose, and ribose. Arbutin, cellobiose, melibiose, rhamnose, and salicin were not fermented by any of these strains.

Network topology drives population temporal variability in experimental habitat networks

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
Habitat patches connected by dispersal pathways form habitat networks. We explored how network topology affects population outcomes in laboratory experiments using a model species (Daphnia carinata). Central habitat nodes in complex lattice networks exhibited lower temporal variability in population sizes, suggesting they support more stable ...

Salient Sub-Second Separations [PDF]

open access: yesAnalytical Chemistry, 2016
Sub-second liquid chromatography in very short packed beds is demonstrated as a broad proof of concept for chiral, achiral, and HILIC separations of biologically important molecules. Superficially porous particles (SPP, 2.7 μm) of different surface chemistries, namely, teicoplanin, cyclofructan, silica, and quinine, were packed in 0.5-cm-long columns ...

Towards the Success Rate of One: Real-time Unconstrained Salient Object Detection

open access: yes, 2017
In this work, we propose an efficient and effective approach for unconstrained salient object detection in images using deep convolutional neural networks.

FoxO1 signaling in B cell malignancies and its therapeutic targeting

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FoxO1 has context‐specific tumor suppressor or oncogenic character in myeloid and B cell malignancies. This includes tumor‐promoting properties such as stemness maintenance and DNA damage tolerance in acute leukemias, or regulation of cell proliferation and survival, or migration in mature B cell malignancies.

JL-DCF: Joint Learning and Densely-Cooperative Fusion Framework for RGB-D Salient Object Detection [PDF]

open access: yesComputer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 2020
This paper proposes a novel joint learning and densely-cooperative fusion (JL-DCF) architecture for RGB-D salient object detection. Existing models usually treat RGB and depth as independent information and design separate networks for feature extraction

Saliency-guided video classification via adaptively weighted learning

open access: yes, 2017
Video classification is productive in many practical applications, and the recent deep learning has greatly improved its accuracy. However, existing works often model video frames indiscriminately, but from the view of motion, video frames can be ...

Insights into PI3K/AKT signaling in B cell development and chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Review explores how the phosphoinositide 3‐kinase and protein kinase B pathway shapes B cell development and drives chronic lymphocytic leukemia, a common blood cancer. It examines how signaling levels affect disease progression, addresses treatment challenges, and introduces novel experimental strategies to improve therapies and patient outcomes.

The SALIENT Checklist: Gathering up the Ways in Which Built Environments Affect What We Do and How We Feel

open access: yesBuildings, 2016
In recent years, behavioural science has emerged as an additional tool to explore the impact of built environments on behaviour and wellbeing. Recognising the potential for further research in this field, we have sought to better understand how built ...

Label Decoupling Framework for Salient Object Detection [PDF]

open access: yesComputer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 2020
To get more accurate saliency maps, recent methods mainly focus on aggregating multi-level features from fully convolutional network (FCN) and introducing edge information as auxiliary supervision. Though remarkable progress has been achieved, we observe
