Phase-based salient object detection

2012 6th International Conference on Signal Processing and Communication Systems, 2012
In this paper, we propose an efficient approach to computing saliency maps and determining salient areas in images. Biologically inspired feature maps are first constructed for a given image, and the phase information is then extracted from each feature map in the frequency domain.

A Universal Framework for Salient Object Detection

IEEE Transactions on Multimedia, 2016
In this paper, we propose a novel universal framework for salient object detection, which aims to enhance the performance of any existing saliency detection method. First, rough salient regions are extracted from any existing saliency detection model with distance weighting, adaptive binarization, and morphological closing.

Depth Guided Detection of Salient Objects

2016
Saliency estimation is a complex problem of computer vision area, which results can enhance many tools or applications. In most of existing solutions, data that comes from stereopsis was not involved. We propose an algorithm, that adds depth information to detection of important objects in the scene.

Salient object detection in tracking shots

2016 23rd International Conference on Pattern Recognition (ICPR), 2016
Tracking shots have posed a significant challenge for salient region detection due to the presence of highly competing background motion. In this paper, we propose a computationally efficient technique to detect salient objects in a tracking shot. We first separate the tracked foreground pixels from the background by accounting for the variability of ...

Detecting and Recognizing Salient Object in Videos

2018
Saliency detection has been an interesting research field. Some researchers consider it as a segmentation problem some others treat it differently. In this paper, we propose a novel video saliency framework that detects and recognizes the object of interest.

Real-time salient object detection

Proceedings of the 21st ACM international conference on Multimedia, 2013
Salient object detection techniques have a variety of multimedia applications of broad interest. However, the detection must be fast to truly aid in these processes. There exist many robust algorithms tackling the salient object detection problem but most of them are computationally demanding.

Background-Driven Salient Object Detection

IEEE Transactions on Multimedia, 2017
The background information is a significant prior for salient object detection, especially when images contain cluttered background and diverse object parts. In this paper, we propose a background-driven salient object detection (BD-SOD) method to more comprehensively exploit the background prior, aiming at generating more accurate and robust salient ...

Thresholding in salient object detection: a survey

Multimedia Tools and Applications, 2017
Salient Object Detection (SOD) in natural images is an active research area with burgeoning applications across diverse disciplines such as object recognition, image compression, video summarization, object discovery, image retargetting etc. Most salient object detection methods model this problem as a binary segmentation problem where firstly a ...
