SALIVARY GLAND AND DUCT CALCULI
Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1952SALIVARY calculi certainly are not uncommon. However, a stone measuring 3.5 cm. by 1.5 cm. by 1.0 cm. and weighing 4.0 gm. situated in Wharton's duct is rare. Just as the length of the removed stone was excessive, inversely, the length of the patient's history was brief. That contrast is the basis for this report. REPORT OF A CASE E.

Salivary calculi are frequent and revealed by very painful signs, which need an urgent therapy. These calculi are more often localized in the submaxillary gland, sometimes in the parotid gland, and unfrequently in the sublingual glands. Their clinical signs include an increased volume of the gland (salivary hernia), pain of infectious complication ...

[Microanalysis of salivary calculi].
Journal de biologie buccale, 1986Eight salivary calculi were sectioned along a plane of symmetry and the sections studied by microanalysis. Three different regions were observed: a central region with one or several strongly mineralized nuclei, a stratified, less mineralized region with a lower Ca/P ratio and finally a peripheral weakly calcified region.
