Sialolipoma of minor salivary glands

Sialolipoma is a recently described histologic variant of lipoma and is characterized by well-demarcated proliferation of mature adipocytes with secondary entrapment of salivary gland elements. Salivary glands carcinomas are very rare epithelial malignant tumors. In 2013 in Europe, 7800 new diagnoses were estimated, 8.5 % of all head and neck cancer. The last WHO classification (2017) counts more than 20 malignant histotypes, this variety as well as the rarity of some of them needs a skilled pathologist for diagnosis.

Syringomatous Adenocarcinoma of Minor Salivary Glands

An intraoral adenocarcinoma showing syringomatous features is reported in a woman aged 71. The tumor, which appeared to arise in minor salivary glands, ulcerated the overlying epithelium. Histologically, it was composed of dilated ductal structures and, in deeper parts, of tumor nests, elongated cords and small ducts containing small lumina.
