Salmonella Paratyphi A: an insight into mechanisms of typhoidal Salmonella pathogenesis
T he human-restricted, typhoidal Salmonella Paratyphi A (S. Paratyphi A) and S. Typhi are the major c auses of enteric (typhoid) fever and are endemic in regions with poor sanitation. Despite the recent i ncreased rate of S. Paratyphi A isolation from patients in Asia, its pathogenesis remains largely u nknown.

Salmonella paratyphi A induced pancytopenia--a new association.
A case of salmonella paratyphi A fever with reversible pancytopenia in a 15 years old boy who presented with history of high grade continuous fever, epistaxis and haemoptysis, relative bradycardia and splenomegaly is described here. A brief review of the literature on possible causes of reversible pancytopenia in this case is also discussed.

Safety, Efficacy, and Immunogenicity of a Salmonella Paratyphi A Vaccine
Background: Salmonella enterica serovar Paratyphi A (also known as S. Paratyphi A) is responsible for more than 2 million cases of enteric fever annually. There are no licensed vaccines against S. Paratyphi A. Methods: In a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial, we evaluated an orally administered live, attenuated S.
