Quinolones in Salmonella typhi Infection
Drugs, 1993The quinolones possess a high degree of in vitro activity against enteric bacteria, including Salmonella. This observation, coupled with the limitations of current antityphoid agents, has resulted in the evaluation of quinolones in the therapy of S. typhi infection, including both enteric fever and chronic intestinal carriage.

Siderophore production by Salmonella typhi
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1988This study was initiated to determine the mechanism of iron-uptake in Salmonella typhi. When stressed for iron, microorganisms produce siderophores to obtain the necessary nutrient. Generally two types of siderophores exist: the phenolate-type predominantly produced by bacteria and the hydroxamate-type commonly secreted by fungi.
