Salmonella bongori provides insights into the evolution of the Salmonellae [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The genus Salmonella contains two species, S. bongori and S. enterica. Compared to the well-studied S. enterica there is a marked lack of information regarding the genetic makeup and diversity of S. bongori. S.

EFEITOS DA LACTULOSE NA SAÚDE GASTROINTESTINAL DE FRANGOS DE CORTE EXPERIMENTALMENTE INOCULADOS COM Salmonella entérica SOROVAR Typhimurium

Parallel Exploitation of Diverse Host Nutrients Enhances Salmonella Virulence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Pathogen access to host nutrients in infected tissues is fundamental for pathogen growth and virulence, disease progression, and infection control. However, our understanding of this crucial process is still rather limited because of experimental and ...

Deciphering interplay between Salmonella invasion effectors. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Bacterial pathogens have evolved a specialized type III secretion system (T3SS) to translocate virulence effector proteins directly into eukaryotic target cells.

Use of AFLP and PFGE to discriminate between Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium DT126 isolates from separate food-related outbreaks in Australia

open access: yes, 2005
In 2001 Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium definitive phage-type (DT) 126 was isolated at higher frequency in Australia compared to other S. Typhimurium phage types and in comparison to previous years.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

An Unstable Mutation in Salmonella typhimurium [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1958
RECENTLY, Zamenhof et al. 1 described experiments which demonstrated the occurrence of pinpoint mutant colonies in Escherichia coli. These mutants arose in experiments in which 5-bromo-uracil was used as a mutagenic agent, and the pinpoint colonies were shown to be of three types: stable, unstable and very unstable.
