The salmonids (family: Salmonidae).
2010As a taxon, the salmonids comprise 11 genera, with 65-70 species. All species occur naturally in the northern hemisphere but several salmonid species have been introduced to the southern hemisphere, where they often form the basis of sport fisheries or aquaculture enterprises.
