Accelerating Phosphate Transport Across Membranes via Synergistic Chemical‐Electrochemical Carriers

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A new membrane design principle based on synergistic chemical and electrochemical carriers is proposed to construct an electro‐driven carrier‐conducting membrane for high‐throughput phosphate transport. Monodispersed ferrihydrite nanoparticles embedded within the membrane act as built‐in phosphate carriers, enabling accelerated phosphate migration via ...

The Bone Health Team: A Team-Based Approach to Improving Osteoporosis Care for Primary Care Patients

open access: yesJournal of Primary Care & Community Health, 2017
Background: Significant improvements in secondary prevention of osteoporotic fractures have been noted with fracture liaison services. However, similar models for the primary prevention of such fractures have not been reported.

Precise Control of Charge–Structure Coupling in Polyamide Membranes for Mono‐ and Divalent Ion Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A zwitterionic copolymer, Poly(2‐methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine‐co‐2‐aminoethyl methacrylate hydrochloride) (P(MPC‐co‐AEMA)) copolymers, with tunable MPC/AEMA ratios, is grafted onto the polyamide (PA) selective layer via secondary interfacial polymerization. Balancing reactive anchoring segments (AEMA) and zwitterionic segments (MPC) regulated

MOF‐Derived Cu‐TiO2/Alginate Micromotors for Buoyancy‐Regulated 3D Motion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this work, cyanobacteria‐inspired sodium alginate (SA)/Cu‐TiO2/Fe3O4 hydrogel micromotors generate and encapsulate O2 microvesicles upon light irradiation, enabling buoyancy‐mediated Z‐axis upward migration and surface enrichment at the light‐exposed water‐air surface.

Plastic versus glass capillaries for rapid-cycle PCR

open access: yesBioTechniques, 2008
Rapid-cycle PCR uses fast temperature transitions and minimal denaturation and annealing times of “0” s to complete 30 cycles in 10 to 30 min. The most popular platform amplifies samples in glass capillaries arranged around a carousel with circulating ...

Food Tastes in the United States: Convergence or Divergence?

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates how food consumption tastes have changed in recent decades across the United States. Using NielsenIQ data for over 77 million transactions, there is evidence of divergence in food tastes across regions from 2007 to 2016 and across households of different income, education, and race/ethnicity groups.
