Etwa eine Billion Mal saurer als erwartet? Über den Unterschied zwischen der Hammett‐H0 und der vereinheitlichten pH‐Azidität der Schwefelsäure

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 137, Issue 52, December 22, 2025.

Microbial exopolysaccharide production by polyextremophiles in the adaptation to multiple extremes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, Volume 599, Issue 23, Page 3417-3443, December 2025.
Polyextremophiles are microorganisms that endure multiple extreme conditions by various adaptation strategies that also include the production of exopolysaccharides (EPSs). This review provides an integrated perspective on EPS biosynthesis, function, and regulation in these organisms, emphasizing their critical role in survival and highlighting their ...

Salinigranum halophilum sp. nov., isolated from marine solar salterns

open access: yesInternational Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology, 2020
Three halophilic archaeal strains, YJ-53T, ZS-5 and DYF38, were isolated from marine solar salterns located in different provinces of China. The three strains formed a single cluster (99.7–99.8 and 97.9–99.2 % similarities, respectively) that was separate from the current two members of Salinigranum

Genome‐Resolved Approach of Guerrero Negro Hypersaline Microbial Mats Reveals the Metabolic Potential of Key Players in a Stratified Community

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 27, Issue 11, November 2025.
The first metagenome‐assembled genomes (MAGs) from Guerrero Negro hypersaline microbial mats were recovered from natural and incubated samples. These MAGs include dominant and rare taxa, whose metabolic potential provides clues to metabolic versatility in the cycling of three elements (carbon, sulfur, and nitrogen) at the genome and community levels ...

Numerical taxonomy of moderately halophilic Gram-negative rods [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
A study was made of 516 randomly selected isolates of moderately halophilic bacteria from solar salterns showing salinities between 8.8 and 40.0% (w/v) total salts, located in S.E. Spain.

Estimating the Deterministic and Stochastic Levelized Cost of the Energy of Fence-Type Agrivoltaics

open access: yesEnergies
Agrivoltaics can be used to supply energy and produce agricultural products in order to meet the growing demand for energy and food. The amount of power generation is affected by the solar panel direction, spacing, tilt, and panel technology; however ...

Production and Characterization of α-Amylase from an Extremely Halophilic Archaeon, Haloferax sp. HA10

open access: yesFood Technology and Biotechnology, 2015
Haloarchaea are found at very high concentrations in salt-conditioned environments, hence produce enzymes which are able to catalyze reactions under harsh conditions, typical of many industrial processes.
