Primary care and abortion legislation in Chile: A failed point of entry

open access: yesDeveloping World Bioethics, Volume 23, Issue 2, Page 154-165, June 2023., 2023
Abstract While Chile's partial decriminalization of abortion in 2017 was a long overdue recognition of women's sexual and reproductive rights, nearly four years later the caseload remains well below expectations. This pattern is the product of standing barriers in access to abortion‐related health services, especially at the primary care point of entry.

First‐trimester plasma extracellular heat shock proteins levels and risk of preeclampsia

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 27, Issue 9, Page 1206-1213, May 2023., 2023
Abstract Preeclampsia (PE) occurs annually in 8% of pregnancies. Patients without risk factors represent 10% of these. There are currently no first‐trimester biochemical markers that accurately predict PE. An increase in serum 60‐ and 70‐KDa extracellular heat shock proteins (eHsp) has been shown in patients who developed PE at 34 weeks.

Drivers of metabolic diversification: how dynamic genomic neighbourhoods generate new biosynthetic pathways in the Brassicaceae

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 227, Issue 4, Page 1109-1123, August 2020., 2020
Summary Plants produce an array of specialized metabolites with important ecological functions. The mechanisms underpinning the evolution of new biosynthetic pathways are not well‐understood. Here, we exploit available genome sequence resources to investigate triterpene biosynthesis across the Brassicaceae.
