Comprehensive molecular analysis of 61 Egyptian families with hereditary nonsyndromic hearing loss
Abstract Nonsyndromic hearing loss is an extremely heterogeneous disorder. Thus, clinical diagnostics is challenging, in particular due to differences in the etiology of hearing loss between populations. With this study, we wanted to elucidate the genetic basis of hearing loss in 61 consanguineous Egyptian families. In 25 families, linkage analysis was

Oxidative Stress in Poultry: Lessons from the Viral Infections
Reactive species (RS), generally known as reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reactive nitrogen species (RNS), are produced during regular metabolism in the host and are required for many cellular processes such as cytokine transcription, immunomodulation, ion transport, and apoptosis.

S‐Nitrosation and Ubiquitin‐Proteasome System Interplay in Neuromuscular Disorders
Protein S‐nitrosation is deemed as a prototype of posttranslational modifications governing cell signaling. It takes place on specific cysteine residues that covalently incorporate a nitric oxide (NO) moiety to form S‐nitrosothiol derivatives and depends on the ratio between NO produced by NO synthases and nitrosothiol removal catalyzed by ...

Abstract The accurate representation of cloud droplet number concentration (Nd) is crucial for predicting future climate. However, models often underestimate Nd over the Southern Ocean (SO), where natural sources dominate, and aerosols are composed primarily of marine biogenic sulfate and sea spray.

A Lathyrus sativus L. mutant isolated in ethylmethane sulfonate‐treated M2 progeny of mother variety BioL‐212 and designated as rlfL-1 was characterized by inwardly rolled‐leaf and stem and bud fasciations. The mutant exhibited karyomorphological peculiarities in both mitosis and meiosis with origin of aneuploidy.

Thermal noise and the incessant vibration of the outer hair cells in the cochlea
The continual exposure of outer hair cells (OHCs) to thermal noise causes vibrations in resonant frequency. As these vibrations are backprojected, they should be recordable as audiofrequencies in the outer ear canal. But even though they are likely to be amplified in some areas by clustering in terms of the chaos theory, they cannot be picked up in the

Short Review on Plasma–Aerosol Interactions
Schematic representation of plasma–aerosol interactions, including the chemistry and transport of the key reactive oxygen and nitrogen species. Plasma‐activated aerosols show high chemical reactivity within small liquid microdroplet volumes, making them suitable for various applications, for example, industrial processes, nitrogen fixation and ...
