Murine Models and Human Cell Line Models to Study Altered Dynamics of Ovarian Follicles in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The manuscript examines preclinical murine and human models to study polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), delving into the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying altered ovarian follicular dynamics. It explores the cellular interactions involved in normal and PCOS ovaries and outlines the current and novel strategies in the search for preclinical ...

Is SAM 2 Better than SAM in Medical Image Segmentation? [PDF]

open access: yes
The Segment Anything Model (SAM) has demonstrated impressive performance in zero-shot promptable segmentation on natural images. The recently released Segment Anything Model 2 (SAM 2) claims to outperform SAM on images and extends the model's capabilities to video segmentation. Evaluating the performance of this new model in medical image segmentation,

Compositional Oil Spill Detection Based on Object Detector and Adapted Segment Anything Model from SAR Images [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters, vol. 21, pp. 1-5, 2024, Art no. 4007505
Semantic segmentation-based methods have attracted extensive attention in oil spill detection from SAR images. However, the existing approaches require a large number of finely annotated segmentation samples in the training stage. To alleviate this issue, we propose a composite oil spill detection framework, SAM-OIL, comprising an object detector (e.g.,

Polyp-SAM: Transfer SAM for Polyp Segmentation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Colon polyps are considered important precursors for colorectal cancer. Automatic segmentation of colon polyps can significantly reduce the misdiagnosis of colon cancer and improve physician annotation efficiency. While many methods have been proposed for polyp segmentation, training large-scale segmentation networks with limited colonoscopy data ...

Dislocation Distribution, Crystallographic Texture Evolution, and Plastic Inhomogeneity of Inconel 718 Fabricated by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Spatial distribution of microstructure in Inconel 718 3D‐printed with bidirectional strategy with no rotation and chessboard strategy is studied. The former results in a highly ordered arrangement of coarse grains separated by line clusters of dislocation‐dense fine grains. This arrangement is disrupted by the chessboard strategy.

From Damage to Functionality: Remanufacturing of Thrust Roller Bearings by Tailored Forming

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Herein, the wear and fatigue behavior of repaired bearing raceways with a new powder alloy is investigated using a FE8 test‐rig and an oscillating tribometer. The tests are compared with industrial manufactured bearings to evaluate the repair quality. The repair can extend the service life of the repaired bearing to that of a new bearing and improves ...

Imbalanced Surface Charge Induced Phase Segregation in Mixed Halide Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The key factor determining the phase segregation in mixed halide perovskites (MHP) is the intrinsic imbalanced surface charges in the crystal lattice. MHP films with excellent crystallinity and surface morphology can suffer severe phase segregation.

Conducting Polymer Microelectrode Arrays for Simultaneous Electrophysiology and Advanced Brain Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A flexible micro‐electrocorticography array with PEDOT:SS electrodes is shown to be compatible with ultra‐high magnetic field MRI up to 9.4 T. Multimodal brain monitoring is demonstrated by performing simultaneous blood oxygen level‐dependent functional MRI in parallel with electrophysiology.
