Nonparametric Estimation of a Distribution Subject to a Stochastic Precedence Constraint [PDF]
For any two random variables X and Y with distributions F and G defined on [0,∞), X is said to stochastically precede Y if P(X≤Y) ≥ 1/2. For independent X and Y, stochastic precedence (denoted by X≤spY) is equivalent to E[G(X–)] ≤ 1/2.

Summary We propose a novel empirical likelihood (EL) approach for ranked set sampling (RSS) that leverages the ranking structure and information of the RSS. Our new proposal suggests constraining the sum of the within‐stratum probabilities of each rank stratum to 1/H, where H is the number of rank strata.

Efficient Reliability and Sensitivity Analysis of Complex Systems and Networks with Imprecise Probability [PDF]
Complex systems and networks, such as grid systems and transportation networks, are backbones of our society, so performing RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety) analysis on them is essential.

ABSTRACT Inulin is a prebiotic fructan‐type fibre found in vegetables, cereals, and fruits, while isolated inulin is used as a sugar replacement additive. Children in the UK do not meet dietary fibre recommendations, and inulin could contribute to increased fibre intake. However, inulin intake is not routinely assessed.

The analysis of 93 862 hourly streamflow events using interpretable machine learning shows that their timing is controlled by the location of the corresponding rainfall relative to the river network and outlet. Moreover, space–time interaction of precipitation and wetness states is particularly crucial for the shape and timing of large streamflow ...

Semi-analytical solution to a fractured well in an asymmetric reservoir with a finite conductivity fault [PDF]
The primary scope of this study is to develop a novel compound semi-analytical solution for the general case of a well intersecting a vertical fracture near a finite conductivity fault in an asymmetric reservoir adjoining the fracture/fault model.
