Consistency of Importance Sampling estimates based on dependent sample sets and an application to models with factorizing likelihoods [PDF]
In this paper, I proof that Importance Sampling estimates based on dependent sample sets are consistent under certain conditions. This can be used to reduce variance in Bayesian Models with factorizing likelihoods, using sample sets that are much larger than the number of likelihood evaluations, a technique dubbed Sample Inflation.

Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a possibility for different applications in early and late stage breast cancer management. In early breast cancer tumor informed approaches are increasingly used for detecting molecular residual disease (MRD) and early recurrence. In advanced stage, ctDNA provides a possibility for monitoring disease progression and

Effects of Increased Step Width on Knee Biomechanics in Healthy-weight and Obese Populations During Inclined and Declined Walking [PDF]
The purpose of this study was to investigate effects of preferred step width and increased step width modification on knee biomechanics, specifically peak knee abduction and extension moments, of obese and healthy-weight participants during incline and ...

Radically decentered in the Middle Kingdom: interpreting the Macartney embassy to China from a contact zone perspective [PDF]
This dissertation examines artifacts produced by individuals who participated in the Macartney embassy to China from a contact zone perspective. Chapter one claims that works written by Westerners who traveled to and wrote about China and the Chinese are

In this explorative biomarker analysis, we assessed serial sampling of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) with CellSearch in two randomized trials testing immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in metastatic breast cancer. Our data demonstrate a prognostic potential of CTCs, most apparent 4 weeks into ICI therapy.

The Effects of Smoking on Low Birth Weight Babies: A Cultural Influence? [PDF]
The persistence of low birth weight babies born to mothers who smoke continues to be a source of social concern. Recent research determined that a pregnant woman who smokes is 1.5 times more likely to deliver a low birth weight baby than a nonsmoker ...

Circulating tumor cells: advancing personalized therapy in small cell lung cancer patients
Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is an aggressive form of lung cancer that spreads rapidly to secondary sites such as the brain and liver. Cancer cells circulating in the blood, “circulating tumor cells” (CTCs), have demonstrated prognostic value in SCLC, and evaluating biomarkers on CTCs could guide treatment decisions such as for PARP inhibitors ...

A comparative study of circulating tumor cell isolation and enumeration technologies in lung cancer
Lung cancer cells were spiked into donor blood to evaluate the recovery rates of the following circulating tumor cell (CTC) enrichment technologies: CellMag™, EasySep™, RosetteSep™, Parsortix® PR1, and Parsortix® Prototype systems. Each method's advantages and disadvantages are described.
