Sampling of road surfacing materials

Journal of Applied Chemistry, 1970
AbstractThe meaning and purpose of sampling are discussed. Results are presented from a series of road trials on the sampling of asphalt mixtures to demonstrate the importance of bias and variability introduced into test measurements by sampling. Further variability is introduced by the reduction in size by quartering of gross samples to the size ...

Sampling Reactive Materials

2017
A reactive material is a material which can undergo further reaction either with itself or another material or compound under environmentally-mediated conditions. Examples of these types of reactions include polymerization, hydrolysis and oxidation. Since these reactions can occur in the workplace under ambient conditions or even on sampling media, the

Nested Sampling for Materials

2017
This chapter develops nested sampling into a powerful tool for the calculation of pressure-temperature phase diagrams, and demonstrates how it may be applied to single species and binary systems, including the Lennard-Jones system, a binary Lennard-Jones alloy, and an EAM model for Aluminium. A comparison to parallel tempering is also presented.

Sampling of Dredged Material

2005
The guidance contained in this Guidelines for the Sampling and Analysis of Dredged material Intended for Disposal at Sea, addresses the points above and is an amalgamation of two documents produced for the London Convention and the 1996 Protocol thereto: Guidelines for the sampling of sediment ...

Refractory materials in comet samples

Meteoritics & Planetary Science, 2017
AbstractTransmission electron microscope examination of more than 250 fragments, >1 μm from comet Wild 2 and a giant cluster interplanetary dust particle (GCP) of probable cometary origin has revealed four new calcium‐aluminum‐rich inclusions (CAIs), an amoeboid olivine aggregate (AOA), and an additional AOA or Al‐rich chondrule (ARC) object. All of

Sampling Potentially Pyritiferous Materials

2013
Since 2006 it has become apparent that a number of properties in the Dublin area are suffering distress as a consequence of expansion of pyritiferous fill placed beneath ground bearing floor slabs. The location and method of sampling and the appropriate storage of the material are important in order to reliably determine whether such expansion has ...

Sampling of Particulate Material

2009
Particulate materials are often produced in very large quantities. In contrast, usually small quantities are used for characterization or applications. There are two reasons that small samples often give poor representation of the average quality of the bulk. One reason is the discrete nature of particles.

Sample Passports MOMENTUM2.0 Test Materials

As part of the MOMENTUM project (see Momentum | Universiteit Utrecht | Homepage (momentummicroplastics.nl)), sample passports were created with characterisation data of the produced test materials. In this publication the deliverable documents (sample passports) are published and made accessible for the public.
