Refractory materials in comet samples
Meteoritics & Planetary Science, 2017AbstractTransmission electron microscope examination of more than 250 fragments, >1 μm from comet Wild 2 and a giant cluster interplanetary dust particle (GCP) of probable cometary origin has revealed four new calcium‐aluminum‐rich inclusions (CAIs), an amoeboid olivine aggregate (AOA), and an additional AOA or Al‐rich chondrule (ARC) object. All of

Proteomics is critically dependent on optimal sample preparation. Particularly, the interface between protein digestion and mass spectrometric analysis has a large influence on the overall quality and sensitivity of the analysis. We here describe a novel

A new material of cryopreserving cell samples
Cryobiology, 2020Cryopreservation was first studied in early twentieth century, and the cryopreservation of cell and tissue samples has become an inseparable process in biology research labs, helping scientists to store living materials and to accumulate specimens.

S-Trap, an Ultrafast Sample-Preparation Approach for Shotgun Proteomics.
Journal of Proteome Research, 2018The success of shotgun proteomic analysis depends largely on how samples are prepared. Current approaches (such as those that are gel-, solution-, or filter-based), although being extensively employed in the field, are time-consuming and less effective ...

This chapter develops nested sampling into a powerful tool for the calculation of pressure-temperature phase diagrams, and demonstrates how it may be applied to single species and binary systems, including the Lennard-Jones system, a binary Lennard-Jones alloy, and an EAM model for Aluminium. A comparison to parallel tempering is also presented.

Radioactivity in samples of cleaning materials
International Journal of Environmental Analytical Chemistry, 2019The cleaning products have widespread use in daily life; they are made from various complex chemical materials and their containment of radioactive material is possible; so to keep background radia...

Sampling of Particulate Material
2009Particulate materials are often produced in very large quantities. In contrast, usually small quantities are used for characterization or applications. There are two reasons that small samples often give poor representation of the average quality of the bulk. One reason is the discrete nature of particles.

Materialized Sample Views for Database Approximation [PDF]
We consider the problem of creating a sample view of a database table. A sample view is an indexed materialized view that permits efficient sampling from an arbitrary range query over the view. Such "sample views" are very useful in applications that require random samples from a database: approximate query processing, online aggregation, data mining ...
