TROPHOBLAST SAMPLES SUITABLE FOR LONG‐TERM CULTURE
Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, 1985Abstract. Chorionic villi were obtained by a direct vision technique. Villi without vessels (38 cases) failed to grow in vitro, irrespective of the amount of tissue. Vascular villi with an estimated weight exceeding 5 mg (71 cases) grew in vitro—with two exceptions.

Cotton Dust Sampling: I Short Termed Sampling
American Industrial Hygiene Association Journal, 1975A short term sampler for cotton dust is introduced which, when used in conjunction with a correctly designed vertical elutriator, gives equivalent results to the Lumsden-Lynch vertical elutriator. The short termed sampler not only offers results which can be applied to the ACGIH TLV but offers an effective means of environmental surveillance in a ...

Dynamical sampling with an additive forcing term
2015 International Conference on Sampling Theory and Applications (SampTA), 2015In this paper we discuss a system of dynamical sampling, i.e. sampling a signal x that evolves in time under the action of an evolution operator A. We examine the timespace sampling that allows for reconstruction of x. Here we describe the possible reconstruction systems when the system also contains an unknown constant forcing term σ.

Two aspects of a sample design that seem crucial in deciding whether specialized statistical expertise will be required to make the design work are: (1) frame versus nonframe sampling and (2) random versus patterned sampling. These terms are illustrated and some subcategories are suggested.

Long-term blood sampling technique in the marmoset
Laboratory Animals, 1988A simple and reliable method for long-term blood sampling from the restrained marmoset is described. Cannulae were chronically inserted into the internal jugular vein, exteriorized and housed in a backpack system. The cannulae remained patent for 1-7 months.

Long-term storage of tissue samples for cell culture
In Vitro, 1978The establishment of cultured cell lines from skin biopsies stored at -196 degrees C for periods up to 1 year has been investigated. Attempts to initiate cell cultures from the frozen tissue samples were uniformly successful. There was no alteration in chromosome constitution, morphological appearance, or specific activities of lysosomal enzymes in ...

The Extreme Terms of a Sample and Their Role in the Sum of Independent Variables
Theory of Probability & Its Applications, 1960Let $(1)\qquad x_1 ,x_2 , \cdots ,x_n $ be independent random variables, whose distribution function $F(x)$ (the same for all $x_i $) satisfies the conditions of regularity of growth for $|x| \to \infty $: \[ \mathop {\lim }\limits_{x \to \infty } \frac{{\chi (kx)}}{{\chi (x)}} = \frac{1}{{k^\alpha }},\qquad 0 \leqq \alpha \leqq + \infty , \]\[ \mathop

QTc interval in a sample of long-term schizophrenia inpatients
Schizophrenia Research, 2010This naturalistic study attempted to determine the prevalence of prolonged QTc interval in a relatively large population of inpatients hospitalized with chronic schizophrenia, and to explore QTc relationship with demographic variables, metabolic parameters and prescribed treatments.
