Endemism Centres of the Five Richest Vascular Epiphyte Families in the Neotropics
ABSTRACT Aim Endemic species, characterised by limited geographic ranges, face a high risk of extinction. The neotropical region harbours diverse ecosystems and a substantial number of endemic species, thus identifying areas of high endemism is crucial for protecting unique and threatened species and ecosystems.

Abstract Phacelia sect. Glandulosae, with ca. 62 taxa, is the most diverse of the 11 sections of the genus Phacelia (Hydrophyllaceae). The family is largely restricted to North and Central America, but the genus Phacelia has an amphitropical distribution with nine species reported from western South America, five of which have been assigned to P. sect.

Prehispanic Aymara expansion, the Southern Altiplano and San Pedro de Atacama
Aymara speakers are intrusive into the Southern Peruvian Coast and Northern Chilean coast during Tiwanaku Period V, with the establishment of mitmaquna settlements. Trade can be dated much earlier. These developments influenced the development of the altiplano-coast interrelations in the Late Period (AD 1000-1450).
