Endemism Centres of the Five Richest Vascular Epiphyte Families in the Neotropics
Journal of Biogeography, Volume 52, Issue 1, Page 80-91, January 2025.ABSTRACT Aim Endemic species, characterised by limited geographic ranges, face a high risk of extinction. The neotropical region harbours diverse ecosystems and a substantial number of endemic species, thus identifying areas of high endemism is crucial for protecting unique and threatened species and ecosystems.

The family is largely restricted to North and Central America, but the genus Phacelia has an amphitropical distribution with nine species reported from western South America, five of which have been assigned to P. sect.

Estudios atacameños, 1984 Aymara speakers are intrusive into the Southern Peruvian Coast and Northern Chilean coast during Tiwanaku Period V, with the establishment of mitmaquna settlements. Trade can be dated much earlier. These developments influenced the development of the altiplano-coast interrelations in the Late Period (AD 1000-1450).
